1:12

This is tutorial for 1:12 or 12th scale dollhouse spiral stair case.
I based the stairs on an image I found on Pintrest which I have included in the video.
There are captioned instructions so you can turn off the audio to avoid any issues, if you don't like listening to the audio just turn it off and follow the written instructions instead.
Here is a list of materials and tools I used:
Craft Knife
Basswood (up to 2mm thickness)
Turned cocktail sticks - you can use normal cocktail sticks
Compass
Potractor/Ruler
Pencil
5mm drill piece (you will need a drill or dremel tool to drill the hole
5mm dowel rod at least 28cm long
pin-vice drill and drill piece up to 2mm
Thin card/thick paper (I used A3 for the diagonal length)
Twine/braid/rope/string
Woodglue (I used Evo Stik waterbased)
Acrylic paints or wood stain
Varnish/sealant/PVA

Plus, easily obtainable materials and things we can all source even from a fairly cheap craft shop, such as the works for example, or even a coffee shop for free (those stirrers are such a useful crafting item!) 1:6 you need to double it, so every 1 inch = 6 inches. Example, say my staircase is 12 inches tall in 1:12 scale, to convert you would double the length so it would be 24 inches tall. Another example of how to scale this size, say a stair tread in 1:1 scale (our lifesize) is 2ft long/24 inches long, by 12 inches wide, divide by 6, so scaled to 1:6 it would be 4inches x 2inches. To scale that same stair tread to 1:12, divide by 12, so 2 inchesx 1inch. You can also use the dollhouse as a reference of how tall your stairs need to be. :) hope this helps!

How could anyone find your voice annoying?!? Also, I appreciate an economical approach, however higher quality paints tend to require fewer coats. I like Golden brand acrylics, if you have access. Otherwise buckle in for some repetitive painting - also works.

Aw thank you, I guess I'm just paranoid and in the past got hateful comments for things that I can't physically control. I completely agree, better quality materials make the job easier, I always try to do things on a shoe string to show people what they can achieve with things around the house ❤
