Don't mind me, I'm just sitting at work, drinking a chai latte and watching Julie create her masterpiece. Sssshhh This is what I do when my day gets hectic. Nobody calms me like Julie Warren.

I just finished watching your video. I was going to try and buy a miniature wardrobe but I saw your video. I always wanted to try making miniatures and you explain things very clearly for beginners. I didn't see the 2.5 mm wooden doorknobs in your store. It may be an oversight on my part. I am subscribing to your channel today. Again thank you!
@JulieWarren2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for subscribing Vivian. I'm sorry the wooden knobs sold out before you got there, but I will be getting more in soon. Alternatively, you can carve a toothpick into a rounded shape to make a door knob... :)

Julie! Have you been creeping into my daughter's room/studio at night? You've miniaturized Naomi's wardrobe perfectly! It's another triumph of a piece. I saw your Diary entry and I think the black crackle gets my vote (screen colour discrepancies make it hard though). I am currently recovering from horrid op so can't raid my stash to look for you but will a.s.a.p. 👏👏😁
@JulieWarren6 жыл бұрын
Haha. I wanted to choose a traditional style wardrobe, but what a coincidence! I really like the black crackle too and if I don't use it as the main fabric, will certainly make some cushions out of it. Thank you so much for the offer of looking through your fabrics for me, that would be appreciated. I hope you're not in too much pain from your op. Take care.
@MsCandleWick6 жыл бұрын
Julie Warren The biggest coincidence is that about 2hrs ago I heard a weird 'flump' noise from Naomi's room and the hairs on the back of my neck rose. (I should explain Naomi lives in Paris now so her room is my studio). I staggered out of bed - coffee mug in hand to slug the 'burglar'. When I crept in the room I found the wardrobe doors open and, at first glance, saw a woman lying on her back wearing an old ball gown of my daughter's behind her bed. On closer inspection it was the collapse of the game of storage Jenga I play with myself - you know the one... I can just put another box of buttons on top of the pile! Who knows what moved it - I simply love the timing though! 😂
@JulieWarren6 жыл бұрын
A shiver went down my spine when you said about the woman lying on her back!! Ooh...that is weird though. Perhaps I crept in there sub-conciously!!

Hi Julie! I hope you see this comment. I wanted to know if you have any tips on how to prevent warping after applying varnish or paint to your miniatures. I’m experimenting with different paints on some sample basswood and am coming across this issue! Is it the wood or am I missing a step in the painting process?
@JulieWarren2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jessica, it could just be the fact that you're sampling on a single sheet of wood, which will tend to curl upwards as the paint or varnish dries. Sometimes, it can also happen if you're applying too much. Apply thin coats to a constructed piece, and I'll think you'll be fine. Hope that helps. xx

@@JulieWarren thank you! I’ll try that. :)

I LIKE A LOT OF YOUR WORK, CONGRATULATIONS, THAT WOOD THAT YOU USE USA IS THE WOOD BALSA? THIS WOOD COST VERY EXPENSIVE IN BRAZIL.
@JulieWarren6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Elaine. Balsa wood is a little bit flimsy, Obeche is slightly harder and has a tighter grain. Please have a look at my 'Working with Wood' video, which might help with other woods you could use: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGOppIRsmNB2bJY

Thank you Hennreitta. I started out with a few books to learn the basics, but really taught myself. It all started because 20 years ago, when I got my dolls house, there wasn't that much dolls house furniture available and I could never find anything I wanted, so I thought, I'm going to have to make it myself! The rest, as they say, is history!
