The Salt Lake City Stars rallied in the fourth quarter for a 115-111 win over the Iowa Wolves on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena.
Salt Lake City (2-4) had seven players in double digits led by Utah Jazz assignee Taylor Hendricks with 24 points. Nick Ongenda followed with 16 points while two-way guard Jason Preston had 15 points.
D.J. Carton paced Iowa (1-6) with a game-high 32 points while Tyrese Martin and Lance Stephenson were next with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Javonte Cooke chipped in 16 points off the bench.
Salt Lake overcame a rough first quarter where it only scored 10 points and allowed 28 by Iowa. In the second, the Stars fought back and only trailed by eight at the halftime break, 50-42. The teams went back-and-forth in the third as Iowa took a three-point lead into the final period after Giorgi Bezhanishvili beat the end of the third-quarter buzzer with a contested banked three-pointer.
The teams traded baskets in the fourth before Salt Lake broke the final tie with a three by Hendricks and a one-for-three free throw by Johnny Juzang. Iowa was unable to get the necessary stops in a row as Salt Lake held on for the win.
