I love your build videos Bob! So happy to see you posting again! I built a Rally Beetle last year and your videos were very helpful. Particularly the videos about how to organize the parts by type in muffin pans (I used old egg crates), reading the entire build manual prior to starting and the tips and trick on painting. I love that little RC car and it makes everyone smile when they see it.

The more videos I watch of yours, the more I appreciate the work you put in. This was brilliant. I bought my truck used, the guy never finished it and never had it running. This is my first 1/14 truck so it's all new to me, but the transmission felt odd. So I stripped it out and opened the case. Turns out it was put together wrong, and a spring was missing. I replaced the bearings and installed a Carson Poison motor while it was apart. Now after watching this video I'm thinking that brass bush might be the wrong way round, and I know I didn't glue the bearing in.

Wow I wish I had found your channel before I made my Tamiya Scanis R620 6x4 truck. The ttramsmission gave me some issues. I managed to fix them, but still not 100% happy with it. And like you say here, it would be a lot of work to take it out and start again! Like your builds, keep them coming!

Hi Bob great video. I couldn't see the ball-screw on my tablet in detail, but I think it's one of those Tamiya uses on many of their buggies where you can adjust the wheels. I use some 4 mm for our bird's doner. So if you find a buggy with this ball ends, find out the bag and you can order it. Bags are mostly cheaper than separate screws. If I find more informations I'll let you know.

Hello. If I understand correctly, the 55 motor is able to pull more cargo and consume less energy compared to the standard 27 motor? And he can also drive more carefully in hard-to-reach places and he has a lower maximum speed?

As far as the pinion spacing, I had a tech show me to use the receipt paper from the sale. He stated that after placing it in the gear path, it should not tear with a firm pull to extract it.

Great video. I have a question for you. Are you familiar with the Tamiya Toyota Hilux 3-speed 4 wheel drive transmission? I was hoping to replace my gears in that transmission with the aftermarket brass or metal gears for these transmissions. I'm hoping to be able to run a brushless motor in my toyota Hilux and not ruin the gears. I'm not looking for extra speed, just a smooth running trail truck that I can enjoy.

Great vid. My 770 manual says do not replace with ball bearings but you do. Any issues replacing and why might Tamiya state this?
@HobbyconceptsLLC
@HobbyconceptsLLC 2 жыл бұрын
On the slider the bearings not only rotate but slide on the shaft. On some kits Tamiya says not to replace them with ball bearings and on other kits they do not. I personally always replace the bushings with ball bearings and grease the shaft in this area. Modern ball bearings slide back and forth fine, I have built literally hundreds of transmissions with no problems.

My shift shaft in my King Hauler Black Edition is not like yours. It doesn't have the short spring, washer and E clip that you refer to as the hardest to install. The shift fork just slides on then a long spring.

Hello Bob, I watched this video as I was building my transmission. I ran it with a D battery as you demonstrated and had no issues. 1st gear to 2nd gear works perfectly, the problem I have is when I shift from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, I hear a sound like the gears are not meshing fully. Could this be in the transmission or in the differentials? I am thinking that I may not put enough CA on the bearing that is glued in. I would like any info you or others have that may have experienced this.
@HobbyconceptsLLC
@HobbyconceptsLLC 2 жыл бұрын
If you run it with the case off you should be able to see what is happening. I doubt it is the bearings. If you are talking about it installed in a truck most likely it is a shift servo adjustment.

Can you use a brushless motor?? If so which set with Esc is best??
@Rimrock300
@Rimrock300 2 жыл бұрын
On can naturally, but it is very seldom used, as the brushed motors have no problem giving the power and speed needed to operate the trucks 'to scale'. The electronic units made specially for rc truck like these, containing both ESC, lights, sound, are only prepared for brushed motors. Some will use brushless motors, just for fun to drive them on a racetrack, use a one speed planetary transmission able to deal with the power and rpm

Yes, all Tamiya truck transmissions. The Euro trucks have an additional post on the end of the transmission case but all the gears etc. are the same. All motors work. I generally iuse a 55 turn or so.

@Rimrock300
@Rimrock300 2 жыл бұрын
Brushless is 'overkill' in these trucks, that are not supposed to move at any high speeds. Also not got the natural 'built in' breaking resistane as the brushed motors, down hill. Maybe workable with an advance ESC. Anyway, brushless as good as not used in these trucks. Maybe by someone that just want to have some fun, drive a rc truck like a race car.
