Nice work on the tracks Richie. I do think yours are a bit clean though. With them being made of metal in real life. I think they would have been rusty quite a bit. I built that Das Werl 1/16 Stug last year, which you featured in one of your monthly update videos. No track pins with that kit. You had to glue 2 track parts together while at the same time joining the links. Here's how I painted them. First I painted the whole tracks with Tamiya XF56 Metallic Grey. I then gave them a light spray coat of Ammo Mig Jet Exhaust Burnt Iron. This gave a sort of dark rusty type base colour. I have an Ammo Mig Set of rust paint colours in various shades. I started with a darker rust colour put down as a thinned wash. Then I put lighter rust colours on top, finishing with the lightest colour. I then dry brushed all the contact surfaces with a steel colour. I think they came out looking suitably rusty. Won't post links here because I know KZbin doesn't like web links in comments. But you can see pictures on my Scalemates page. Just search for my name. Did a similar process to make the exhausts look rusty. But with those, I first painted them with Mr Surfacer. Let it dry for 15 minutes. Then I stippled with a stiff brush. This made a rough surface like what happens with old rust. I then painted them in the Ammo Mig rust colours. looking forward to the rest of this build series.

Wait until you get to the suspension…this kit was originally built as an RC, that’s why the detail is a little soft but when you get the wheels and tracks on, you’re gonna be blown away at how effortlessly it rolls

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps my question wasn't phrased properly. Do you complete the treads by draping them over the wheels and securing them with a pin or do you finish the treads and then stretch them over the wheels?

I run the “string” of links through the wheels and then pin when done. With these link tracks there isn’t the tolerance to stretch over the wheels like the rubber band tracks.

Hi ! In your opinion what is the différences between the two models Trumpeter ? Best

I would get the Andy Hobby HQ (Takom) kit. If you want full interior detail then Trumpeter.
