Wow, that is way cool, Greenlight Artisan is on the map, they do nice cars from 1:64 to 1:18 scale, hope to see a '71 Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban wagon one day!!!

Hey, how's it going? I enjoyed your review of this 1989 Mercury Marquis Colony Park wagon. You sounded just like me while you were describing this Colony Park. I also collect 1:18 diecast model cars, they are my most prized possessions. I'm also a Ford man, and I love the full-size Ford Motor Company wagons. I was lucky to find both the 89 1:18 Colony, it's dark brown metallic, and I have the 89 Ford Country Squire. It's light blue. They are both from Greenlight and I think all of Greenlight's cars are very well done. They do cut some corners with actual detail, but they more than make up for it with the cars they offer. In real life I owned a 1975 Colony Park wagon. It was white with light tan interior. A 9 passenger, with every available option including ATC. It was a 460 with a Motorcraft 4300 4 barrel carburetor. It had great power. It moved that big wagon at highway speeds and could climb the steep grades of the High Sierras with power to spare. I still love that wagon and would love to have a 75 Colony Park in my collection but I cant find one. I have been looking for a 1:18 scale 1964 through 1966 Chrysler Imperial, I really want one of those. Again, I did own a 66 Crown that I loved. It was silver with silver cloth interior with black leather trim. I have never been able to find one of those. I see them online, but all show as sold out. 1:18 is my favorite scale, but I do feel see 1:43 and 1:64 scale 75 C. Ps, and Imperial s but I can't get myself to go with the smaller scales. I feel that you and I share the same appreciation for cars both the diecasts and the real things. I did subscribe to your site and will be checking it frequently. BTW, my name is Bill Maceri. If you have any thoughts on of to find the cars I mention above I'm all years. Thanks again for your excellent review of the 89 Colony Park.

Like I said earlier, I have both the Colony Park and the Country Squire. I bought them both in 2023. I will tell you I'm very happy with the quality, especially for the low price. I don't have any of the issues posted by the other commenter's. They both are great additions to my collection. Most of the issues the other posters have are so minor, you can't even see them when on display in my room. I'm very happy to have them. I'm always searching for more of these because there are always new ones available. I only collect American cars, I usually pick the cars that were game changers, either in design and style, big sellers and the ones that really turned my head. I even have an exact replica of my very first car, a 1969 black on black Mustang Mach I. Every time I drove it, it was like the very first time. After owning it for several years I would just sit and stare at it. I liked everything about it. I have had several Mustangs over the years and I really like the current model years. But no other car has done it for me like my Mach I. As much as I wish I still had it, I feel lucky to have had it while I was younger. I drove that 69 on several cross country road trips. Pulling in to gas stops back east would always draw a crowd of guys that had never seen one in real life.

Hats off to them for doing this car in 1:18 but WOW, that leaves a LOT to be desired IMO. The proportioning seems fairly off to me like you said. The front overhang and space between the front door and wheel well lip is quite a bit too long and it just seems a little to blocky in places, especially on the sides, they weren't that slab sided. I also can't believe that they omitted the hood ornament but added that little antenna bud and they didn't add the third braking light on the tailgate which is a small detail they actually remembered in the 1:64 version! This just looks way to much like a toy to me and the quality control seems very poor. Most of my 1:18 collection is from BOS. They are sealed resin but they are pretty spot on with proportion and detail. They almost look real from a distance! They nailed the turbine wheels on the Lincoln Mark VI, the ones on this model are to shallow and the center hubs are to small. I might get this if I can find it cheap but I highly doubt it will be displayed. It's sad I'm not even sure if I want it as these were one of my all-time favorite cars. Like I said though, I'm glad they did do it.

Mold looks like mesh up between late 80s Country Squire/CV and early 90s Colony Park.

the proportions are definitely off. I received mine last week, I like it, but compared to the BoS 1974 Buick Estate wagon, it really looks cheap.
@Migs_Models5 жыл бұрын
@@dandann2570 it looks like they also may have recycled the casting from the Family Vacation Truckster contributing to the lack of detail, and as another viewer pointed out they used the wrong rear suspension they did leaf springs not a coil spring 4 link LOL

I haven’t ordered mine yet, but it’s kind of sad reading all the comments about how these were rushed. That’s not like Greenlight, they usually have good quality diecast. I own several BoS models, also and I must say they are probably the best 1:18 scale cars I’ve ever seen! Expensive, but definitely worth it. Which BoS models do you own?

I bought this last week. I LOVE it. Such as a great odd subject, and nice detail. Makes me smile everytime I see it .It's models like this that are turning me away from building model kits.

The comments on this review are pretty good. The car needs a hood ornament, pedals, and the rear brake light. However these are not too difficult to fabricate from junker model car kit parts or plastic. I only ordered one because we had the real thing back in 1998, and it was a great looking automobile. Ours was silver, but close enough. Our first car with electric windows and door locks!

That is a real nice model !! neat to see them do wagons in 1/18 I hope they do a 66 or 67 Chevelle wagon in the future they were my favorite !! Thanks for the awesome video.

Also, A VERY small detail they missed was not adding a Third Tail Light. All cars new past 1987 HAD to legally have a third tail light.

Big error Greenlight! The 1989 Wagon had a High Mounted Stop Light on the tailgate. They all did, 1986 and newer.and didn’t they have a hood ornament too?

I have the Charlie’s Angels 1/18 wagon, a NYPD 1988 wagon, and a 1985 Colony Park. There is a Dark Blue 1979, and a 1980 wagon from Terminator 2

They didn't do the cornering lamps on the 1/18 Chevy Caprice Classic by MCG either. But land yacht collectors cant be choosers, sadly. Wish we had more competition like the supercar collectors do.

A couple more things...this model has the rectangular Ford Crown Vic instrument cluster. Mercurys had two large square silver dials with black numbers. Also at least some Colony Parks had coach lights on the B pillar....I know I'm nitpicking...it's still a gorgeous model 😎

My son bought the NYPD Ltd Crown Vic wagon a few weeks ago and boy, I tell you, the quality is complete garbage. The decals come off so easily you can literally just strip off the model. Second; the doors are terribly made. No way to open but pulling the mirrors which’ll break off and the doors break off easily. Lastly; some of the details are completely off. This is Greenlight’s WORST model car ever made I think to this day.
@robbyturbo1093 жыл бұрын
I have a 1991 it doesn’t have wing windows perhaps the 1989 did the side marker lights could use more detail, I’ll buy this model as well the dash is much nicer on the 1991 along with the airbag and outside shoulder belts.

Suprise what bad quality can be in very big and easy to make 1/18 scale.
@Miami5432103 жыл бұрын
These models should have working suspension. In fact… all 1/64 models should have it too. Matchbox did it in the 80’s. So did majorette. Greenlight and Auto World models should all have suspension.
@dandann25705 жыл бұрын
I received mine last week, after pre ordering several months ago. The quality is bad on these models. It took me forever to remove mine from the box. The first thing I noticed is no hood ornament. I have not been able to open the doors or the tailgate on mine. when i tried to open the passenger door the "woodgrain" peeled off. A friend of mine in the UK received his and the quality is really bad on his. I don't think I will order any more of the Greenlight 1:18 models; I'll stick with BoS. When placed beside my 1:18 scale 1974 Buick Estate Wagon it seems much smaller.

I took mine apart to see what was going on some screws on the bottom will let you get in there and see what’s up it. These seem to be poor and rushed to be assembled.

The woodgrain issue appears to be of extremely poor durability, although it looks beautiful. It seems any handling of the body at the woodgrain is likely to cause it to peel off the body, especially at the edges. The first time I pried the door open, the woodgrain started to flake away from the edge of the door. What I did to protect the woodgrain was to apply a coat of liquid Future type clear acrylic floor wax. I used a very soft brush. When you first apply the liquid, the woodgrain surface resists it and it pools. However I kept gently brushing it back and forth as it dried (it starts to dry in about 5-10 minutes) and eventually it stayed with an even semi-glossy coat over the entire woodgrain. I spread a bit of the clear along all the borders of the woodgrain, as I anticipate it could start to peel at the edges. I coated the edges of the doors and the jambs where the woodgrain meets to body. Time will tell whether this protects the woodgrain decal, but the stuff is crystal clear and is designed to resist shoes walking on a floor, so I figure it's got to be tough enough to protect a model car. For the third brake light, I'm going to use some clear red plastic from my model car junk box, and somehow I'm going to want to add headrests to the front seat; they were included on all Grand Marquis models as a safety requirement. As to the chassis, I know the sedans had full coil springs on all four wheels with 4 link rear suspension, I don't recall the wagons having anything different (as in leaf springs?)

They messed up the proportions of the front end. Grille is too wide and headlights buckets aren't tall enough. Also bumper sticks out too far. I was hoping they would get it right but just like the LTD wagon it just looks off. I am glad that they made header panel plastic so it can be modified. The undercarriage is just terrible.
