This 1:18 Ford Explorer has been fitted with realistic undercover police strobes lights connected to a 9V battery. The headlights, tail lights, spot lights, and interior lights are wired to a 6V battery pack (consisting of 2 CR2032 batteries).
Switch #1 = Solid headlights and tail lights
Switch #2 = Spot lights
Switch #3 = Interior light
Switch #4 = Undercover police lighting package

Search for 5mm & 3mm led lights anywhere online unless you have the patio to go and choose them at your local electric lighting and hobby shop. I too have made a few myself back when I was 12 years old.

In this case I didn't need any programing. This was the very first time I decided to create a strobe effect by following a simple circuit. I just added extra LED's that were attached to the front interior lightbar circuit and positioned them in different areas, like the front push-bar and fog-lights. There were a lot of extra wires, but it was the only way I could think of without using any programming. This circuit works by using two N555 timers, some resistors and some capacitors. Haha, it's been more difficult than I expected to be honest. I've searched everywhere online for small strobe LED's (to recreate more realistic police lights) and found nothing. So, what I did for this model is create my own strobe circuit with resistors and 2 N555 timers that create that 'strobe' effect with regular red and blue color LED's. I love how it turned out but there was a lot of cables and connections. I am still searching for a better way to build these using less cable if it's possible.
