Interesting the Jugs will get hot and Bern the paint away the only part that might be a problem in inside on the Valve Covers that stuff can flaw off and may be a manner problem changing the oil a few times after heat cycling is Important I think i would have Plated the covers there are problems there also thanks for the time you have spent with us looking forward for more

The paint on the cylinders should hold up OK since it's for high heat. I've had good luck with it on the Harley engines. I think I will also wipe the paint off of the inside of the valve covers before starting it just to make sure.

I’m from north east Arkansas and I’m an airplane nut. I built a Rans S7, did the 1st engine run over a year ago and then started on a runway. That took a lot more time than I thought because I hit rock but finally got grass planted this spring. Anyway hope to get the plane inspected before it gets too cold. I watched every video you made on the vw and you did an awesome job. I’ve read a lot about the half vw and they make it look so easy but after watching your videos I know it’s not something I want to take on. I’d love but I don’t have a mill or a tig welder and I’m too old to learn how. I never heard if you sold the 447 or decided to keep it, but if it’s still available I’d be interested. Awesome job on the engine

Having your own runway would be so sweet! Building a 1/2 VW is definitely a lot of work and I hope it's worth it. I do still have the 447 for sale.

Your engine looks more like a real airplane engine than any half vw I’ve seen. The runway will be great when it gets some more grass on it. Half of it looks good the other half got some bare spots but I’ll replant in the spring. Would you be interested in a Rotax 503? If not I’m still interested in the 447. I’ve got an old Kolb FireStar 1 I’m rebuilding and I’m going to try to make a true ultralight out of it

The Kolbs are sweet. I probably should have got one of those since the folding wings would be so handy. I really don't have a need for a 503. Shoot me an offer on the 447.

I found a video that tells the 447 has got points. Sorry but I’m 70 yrs old and I spent my time adjusting points. My fingers are too fat and too old for that. Good luck with the Hummel. Man I sure did enjoy those 1/2 vw build videos and I got no desire to build one.
