how do you modify the data in the blockEntity from the container menu? for example, I have a button setted up at the screen class, which invokes a function in the container menu. The function will add one to the counter on the blockEntity's side. I straight up used the blockEntity reference from the constructor in the container menu but it doesn't seem to update the data in the actual existing block entity. is there a way of syncing these data?

Hey, I followed your Tutorial, but in 1.20.1 my IDE on ServerPlayer.openMenu only accepts one parmater. And when I try I crash with FriendlyByteBuf additionalData is null. What can I do?

I'm on 1.20.1 and I also get the FriendlyByteBuff additionalData is null error. "Cannot invoke "net.minecraft.network.FriendlyByteBuf.readBlockPos()" because "additionalData" is null" in the ExampleMenu.java file

In 1.20.1, in the ExampleMenuBlock->use function, replace 'sPlayer.openMenu(blockEntity);' with 'NetworkHooks.openScreen(sPlayer, blockEntity, pos);" .. worked like a charm.

Then you need to read the crash, figure out what the problem is and then find in your code what is causing it.

@@TurtyWurty it dont show me what the error is. Its just saying minecraft not exited with code 0. Then it shows a huge negative number as an exit code 😅
