I continue the Upgrade Series on my Axial SCX24 by adding much needed brass weights to the front end in search of 60/40 weight distribution. I will be installing HR Brass Front Steering Knuckles (part # SXTF21H) which adds 8g each and HR Brass Diff cover (part # SXTF12CH) which adds 9g for a total of 25g to the front end.

Will be replacing the knuckles and diff covers on my Betty hopefully in 2 weeks time when parts arrive. I'll definitely watch this again. Thanks for this!
@BigSungHobbies
@BigSungHobbies 4 жыл бұрын
I started to work on Betty again and I will be adding some weight up front to try to get to 60/40 weight distribution. My math tells me that with only the brass knuckles it will get me to 59/41 so I will add that first and see if it will require front brass diff cover or not.

@BigSungHobbies
@BigSungHobbies 3 жыл бұрын
Normally I recommend brass knuckles and front only brass diff covers as they are unsprung weights and are located at axles. Wheel hexes will work quite well as well.

Thanks for the video. I can’t seem to get the bearings out of the old knuckles. Ant ideas?

Few things that I do: 1) check to see if you can push it out from the other side, 2) use bent pick to see if you can slowly pull it out, and 3) use a bit bigger screwdriver and carefully pull them out. Hope you find a way to get it out.

Would it be necessary to use some thread lock on the diff cover screws as well? Or since they will be seated in to plastic, the thread lock is not needed? Also, what grease would you be using for your diffs in this video? Would green grease from the auto store work just fine? I use that product for the diffs in my larger fast RC's. Plus, the applicator tool which you were using looks amazing and I'd like to know what brand/where to get that. Thanks for your videos and technical approach. 👍🌮

@BigSungHobbies 4 жыл бұрын
Hey James, thanks for checking out my videos. In response to your questions, anything that goes into plastic, you do not want to use thread lock. From what I heard, thread lock might actually react with plastic and harm it, so I have never used it on plastics. As for the grease, I am using marine grease, and that seems to work well. Usually high temp grease should also work. As for the grease gun, I bought it from Amazon many years ago, Dualco Grease Gun with Short Nozzle .

Did you lose any turning radius with the addition of the brass knuckles. I already have the max servo upgrade and I think I read somewhere that some people mentioned losing turning radius.

@@BigSungHobbies Thank you for your quick reply. I already have a lot of metal in my bronco (wheels, diff covers, aluminum links, so I was wondering if I should still get them but I think I will. I got the HR high torque motor and emax servo so I think the car should be able to handle it.

Typically brass knuckles are the first upgrade for me. I find that brass knuckles and brass diff cover plus heavier wheels works really well.

My car came with a set of different length suspension links but i can’t find anywhere on how to change them or what length is best? Any help? Thanks
@BigSungHobbies
@BigSungHobbies 4 жыл бұрын
I believe different version of SCX24 has different link lengths, or at least Deadbolt version is different than C10. As for correct length, typically you can gauge by looking at the wheel wells. If you center your tires/wheels to the wheel wells than you should be fairly correct length. As for changing the links, it's pretty straight forward. Each end of the link is held by one screw. Also typically the longest length link is used for rear lower, next longest is for rear upper, and shorter ones would be front lower. But I would measure the current ones and verify that is the case. Hope that helps.

Hi may I ask which size screwdriver or screwdriver set should I get for my scx24. Are there any must have sizes I should get?
@BigSungHobbies
@BigSungHobbies 4 жыл бұрын
@Adam Sofa The size that you need is 0.05". Someone told me 1.3mm works as well, but I found it to be a bit too big...I think 1.3mm works out to be something like 0.052". As for brand, I highly recommend MIP even though it's very pricey, in the long run, I think it's well worth it. I have never stripped screws. If you do go with MIP, this is the one that you want, MIP 9000 Thorp Hex Driver 0.05".

Hi, many thanks for the video! I install the steering knuckles and it fits well. the only issue i got is that when i pull the throttle trigger, me truck leans to the right side a little just before he start moving. Any idea what this could be? gz
@BigSungHobbies
@BigSungHobbies 4 жыл бұрын
Not quite sure without really seeing it. It sounds like there is a bit of binding on right side. Few things to check. Make sure the wheel hex nut is not too tight, the 2 screws holding the knuckle has free movement, and lastly there is small oring - did you make sure to put it back? Other than that, I am not sure.

Thanks alot for the tips! really helpfull! It turns out the wheelnuts where to tight. Now I just screwing until the point I feel resistance. The only thing now is hope to not lose any wheelnut.
