Features: Garth Shyngera is a mechanic during his day job, but his after hours job means he is making scaled down models of just about everything. One of his most stunning projects was the construction of a 1/32 scale model of an oil derrick or rig. The project took him about 500 hours to build and includes almost every feature that a full sized rig would have. Given the material and labor he's put into the project at the time of our visit he figured it would sell for around $8000.

I worked at Kello Bilt for 11 years, in the time i was there i made 4 scale modles of the discs we built, i made a scaled D.O.W., a Single offset, a 210 series and a 500 series, getting into doing my scales i actually built a press with dies to bend the blades and hand turned on a lathe the spools and my frames were all welded exactly same as the real ones. my wheels came from Ertle toys. chuckles the hardest and time consumming was cutting the notched blades.
