That looks bigger than a quarter acre. Looks at least half an acre. An acre is only 42,000 square feet or 200x200’. If you’re going to buiid a small pond it’s best to build it DEEEP. like at least 20’ deep. I fish a quarter acre pond that has 6 pound bass in it because it’s super deep so what it lacks in surface area it makes up for in water volume overall. It may only be a quarter acre but it has as much water as your average 5 acre pond because it’s 30’ deep in the middle.

Thank you for sharing... This was good reassurance and for my confidence and my positive thoughts we began a very extensive pawn project on my land I bought a beautiful piece of land with a just wild unmanaged stock tank on its low part the stock tank was probabout 1/6 of an acre at its beginning. The plan is to keep that as catchment but grow it by about 3X tsend build a terrace on one of the dams that houses about a 20' diameter 4 and a 1/2 foot deep natural filtration bog which the water from the catchment pond is pumped up in through the bottom through rocks with fish and plants as natural filtration then the bog pond will spill over a waterfall down into a 45' diameter about 9' deep natural swim pond. With water pumped from the swim pond back to the catchment pond completing the Is cycle of continuously healthy water. There will also be a spillway from the catchment pond are high and we have enough water we don't want to deprive anyone downstream from the watershed. And control directed run off is always better to Protect ones investment. I wish I could send you pictures right now of the extreme mud pit that actually has me stranded on the Homestead side of my land versus the roadside of my land until things get cleaned up I had to even borrow a vehicle to commute back-and-forth to work.

Put some gizzard shad, crawfish, bluegill and longear sunfish in there. Longears only get 5” long maximum whereas bluegill can easily get a pound in a pond and that’s too big for bass to eat. Also install a well if you’re worried about low water level.

@dethtour
@dethtour Жыл бұрын
Just call before you dig. All you need is a mini excavator, a skid steer, and some pond lining. We dug out a 5 acre pond on our 50 acres of land. And it took us a week. Its 8ft deep for about 1.5 acres of it and the rest ramp up. We built a small pair that runs all the way to center of the pond. We put pilings all the way through and just build up before continuing the digging. We have 14 cows, 20 goats, and the entire farm is completely enclosed so we released about 100 rabbits and are everywhere now. Now we just need a small house. We might do a konex home

Awesome video. I'm thinking of doing this (but on a smaller scale) to house our ducks once our dam gets redone. Ducks help seal the soil in the pond to stop water from leaking out, after that I'll probably add plants to the waters edge to improve water quality.

Not sure I understand your comment. Do you think it’s bigger or smaller than 1/4 acre?
