Hey Bill,i saw our friend,Big John. He looked ok, showed me his leg. I asked about it because he was in a power cart in commerce,Ga Walmart. Remember some old work times.Enjoyed remember the good times at work with him. Funny because I was a fill in weekend supervisor, John helped me out with rotor department,we worked for Eaton supercharger together. Tuff place to work for. He was in good spirits,as always with him. Seeing him after 15 years, made my day.

My Dad had ordered a 1963 Doge 330 Lightweight and my grandpa wouldn't cosign for him for it so when they left Detroit they passed a Chevrolet dealer and there was 1963 Corvette convertable Fuelie with sidepipes and knockoff wheels that my grandpa cosigned for him and he drove it home and raced on street and at dragstrips in the 60's and early 70's. and never lost a race with it stock. It had a 411 rear end.

Fantastic car never new existed. Sounds almost like the car chose you but the guy did catch you looking at it real hard so there is that. You gave it a platform and now a lot more of us like it too! Kind of grows on you the more you find out about it. Lawman was a great story, as a ford guy never understood that before! And yes caught that pun I hope you "rectified" that issue.

Had a 63 Polara with a 472 Hemi. One of the original Ramchargers selected my car as best of show one year at Carlisle and I developed a friendship with the Ramchargers. The stories are amazing and meeting your track heroes is an experience I will never soon forget!

When rebuilding carbs, a ultrasonic cleanse is essential. Definitely a diamond of a car. Most race cars were drive hard and put to pasture to be forgotten.👍

Video format was a little different, but different in a good way. Kind of a Discovery Channel deep look into the history of the vehicle, motor sports, and what goes into owning a collector car. Enjoyed every second 👍 ...p.s., the first carb. I ever rebuilt was a Carter one barrel from a Ford F-100. If I remember correctly, the rebuild kit had like five things in it. You are a brave made tackling a four barrel as your first!

At the 10:00 mark of the video, Goldberg mentions Al Eckstrand, a Chrysler corporate lawyer who also enjoyed driving hi-performance drag cars. There is a picture of the Candymatic car, lettered with Eckstrand as driver. When the altered wheelbase cars were built, Chrysler gave him one of the cars. It was lettered as "The Lawman" and did well in competition. There's not much documentation as to what happened to it, that I've seen at least. If somebody knows where it went, let me know. I did see the Ramchargers Candymatic altered wheelbase car run, at Alton Drageway. It had the Hillborn injectors at the time, so was running alcohol (I think). I caught them at a sparkplug change, and got one of the used plugs as a souvenir, which I had for probably 35-40 years as a souvenir, but then it got lost when I did a move.

It is not the only three speed manual. Also no three speed manual came with an aluminum front end at the start of 63. NHRA rules at the start of 63 required the mauals to weight over 3400 lbs, the autos were allowed 3200. After Mopar won everything going the rules were changed to 3200 for all super stocks to give the other makers a chance at winning.
@GoldbergsGarage3 ай бұрын
Well, I never profess to know everything, but in the registry, it is the only three speed manual. End of story. Thank you for the history lesson though.

Why did they not install a rock crusher floor shift the button transmission that came in the Polara and they had many issues. I was under the impression the ultra light came with a three speed automatic and a four speed stick.

@wescoupland39852 ай бұрын
Yes it's very cool but the real holy grail was this car that came with a manual floor shifter I believe it was a four speed with a posi I have seen one in a museum and I can only imagine the rarity and value I love your car but the push button transmission to me makes zero sense and screams problems.

You mean you where lucky enough to steal it for 89 thousand LOL , glad someone with love for it and understands what it is , I had 67 1/2 barracuda S car when I was 18 it was my savings for a years worth hazardous duty pay , 5000 later I had it running with new motor and gears few little goody's for the street , During it's time in storage to be shipped from Alaska' it became the property of thieves " 3 years later I am in Germany and I gave the burnt shell and what they recovered to the police man with the news's he just got a hemi body for free there was no way I could deal with it . since I have had road runners a 65 formula s car , lots A narrow cars they make great hot rods , ugly as they are and restored a 1970 440 sixpack 4 speed rt / se challenger as third owner it took 10 cars to make happen and way to much money thank you ebay of old . one of my local connection's likes to make clone supper stockers I say he's one of the best he has been doing since he bought his Frist and he 74 .

Dude these comments can kinda misslead you. Grain of salt. Remember we rebuilt these carbs when we were 16, AND because we HAD to. So that tells you something. In a nut shell, carb clean everything, blow all every hole as clean as you can, and reassemble. Seriously. Its very easy. And if you call a guy for advice, dont listen to anybody elses advice but his. Its a high buck car, so if the carbs still act up, send them out to a max wedge racer. Its a race engine so some stock stuff wont work anyways But, always Try it 1st yourself. Dont be anal. Youll waist time. They go back together only 1 way. Its very hard to screw it up if your anykind of wrench. Its 60yrs old. If you have to replace them, box them up, and buy new. I race NSS. We get it. And finally, please, never buy a car for the value. Dont get caught up in the numbers game. Youll chase your tail only to have some doolittle curtique your shit. Car values a conversation peice to 99% of people because its all they got. We only made money because we kept the cars 40yrs. Its NOT a good investment. Especially if you want to use them, your gunna abuse them. They all are built as utility vehicals if you think about it.
