Al-Arba'een An-Nawawiyyah
Book/Class Introduction
Class 1: Hadeeth 1 - Niyyah (Intention)
The 40 Ahadeeth An-Nawawee with the Sharh of our beloved Shaykh bin Mohammed bin Saalih bin 'Uthaymeen 'alayhi rahmatullaah.
This book is a treasure among the Islaamic literature and it is a book that covers so many aspects of our deen. It's doesn't just cover one Islaamic science: it's fiqh, it's aqeedah, it's manhaj, it's mu'amalaat, it's imaaniyaat wa rawhaaniyaat.
It actually covers a lot of aspects of the deen, and it is probably one of the best books authored with the agreement of the 'ulama.
This book is a treasure and bi'ithnilaahi 'azza wa jal, we will be given the opportunity to go over it just like we did with the Al-Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyaah, wa ma tawfeeqi illa billah , so let us begin this journey together insha allah.

Dear Ustadh, the scholars have vividly explained, that "following the opinion of any scholars that is NOT based on (Daleel) proof is TAQLEED, on the other hand, following the saying of a scholar that is BASED ON Daleel) proof is NOT TAQLEED, but (al-Ittibaa). So, there are some Arab scholars who hold the opinions that it is Wajab upon the layman to do Taqleed of scholar (blind imitation), what they mean is to ask a scholar. But asking the scholar is NOT Taqleed, in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah, the meaning of Taqleed is to follow an opinion that is NOT base on proof. Rather, Allah has commanded us to ask the people of (Zikar) if you do not know, and (Zikar) is the knowledge the Quran and Sunnah, explained by the scholars to the layman, NOT mere opinion...So, this is a CLEAR-CUT mistake. The opinion of a scholar is NOT proof, the proof is the Book of Allah and the authentic Sunnah.

Making the laymen do ijtihad is from the bid'ah of the Qadariyya. Al Imam Ibn Qudamah said: "Some of the Qadariyyah (a sect who deny the qadr of Allah) took the opinion that the laymen are required to look at the evidences in furoo' (the branches of the religion I.e. issues of fiqh) too. But this is false by the **consensus of the sahabah**, for indeed they use to give verdicts to the laymen, and wouldn't order them to reach the level of ijtihad, and this is something known by necessity and by tawatur from their scholars and laymen. And because consensus has been established upon the layman being responsible for the (religious) rulings, but giving him the responsibility of reaching the level of ijtihad would lead to the ceasing of (the growth of) crops and livestock ... which would lead to the destruction of the dunya" [Rawdhat An Naadhir 2/383]

Khutbah is speech Khitbah is engagement (dialougue?) Khutbah Hajjah! Imam Nawawi was a Shafi, he is a hafith or memorizer. His books spread, perhaps it's a sign of his sincerity. Acceptance of the works of the scholars is a sign of sincerity. Mujtahid is someone who derives opinion. Some do tawil and say Istiwa means conquering the throne, this is wrong as it has no text to support it. 10 :00 - Imam Nawawi and ibn Hajr has some Ashari errors. You said this was appreciated by Allah, you should of said insha Allah! Imam Sharawi, Abdul Hamid Dimishq had issues in Aqidah - don't b passive, be open about aqidah error of da'ees, even if they do good in another science. Ibn Abbas said I fear stones will fall on you, I give you the sunnah and you say Abu Bakr & Umar said... So sunnah is always first. Some said rid of Sahih Muslim by Nawawi - ibn Uthaymin says we ask for Allah's protection, he reached level of ijtihad and if he reached right answer he gets 2 rewards and if he erroed, he gets one error! the book has 42 hadith! ibn Uthaymin was very simple to understand and would repeat and engage his students. 20 :00 - 1st ayat is Acts are by intentions, Bukhari 1. Umar was appointed as 2nd Caliph by Abu Bakr! This is a Ahad hadith but it's very important (reminds me of the hadith if there was a prophet after me it would be Umar) Even the food you put in your wife's mouth with good niyat can be a good deed, so the meaning of this hadith is found in other hadith as well. ( bukhari 1629 , book of Wills) Niyat should be for Allah alone, exclusively, the word Inimah shows it. Innimah everyone will get what they intended! 30 :00 - hadith continues whoever wants to hijra for Allah and His Messenger will be for Allah and His Messenger, and whoever intends to migrate for a grl or the world, then his migration is for that. Notice the negative reason for migration is given the pronoun to belittle it and not repeated like the honorable cause! Arabic grammar. Amal means deeds, of heart, tongue and limbs. Niya is in heart. 40 :00 - We don't say our niyat before salat. in repitition of an ayat the meaning can be different or an emphasis. The asl is looking if a similar sentence in context can have a different meaning. 47 :45 - Q on haid ( menses) vs instihatha ( it's prolonged menses) Q on ibn Abdul Wahab on Quran 9 :31! Q on does this book have shar ibn RAjab or matn? Q salatul wasta ( middle ) is Ar Q on siffat Dhahik and ajib(?) - one is laughter... Q on masjid of spubs and greenlane classes - says go to spubs they are more careful, even though they may warn against me in that class. Q on studying on one teacher vs many - if they are reliable many and benefit from their methods Q on audio files Q on statement nothing exists except Allah by Batinis - this is batil, incorrect pantheist statement by the likes of ibn Arabi Q on Salat Asr no being in Quran by name Q on living in a bus Q on getting your desires and a new house for praying 12 rakat Q on removing hair on cheek under the eye. Q on haifa younus Q on acts are by intentions and people will get what they intend Q on balance in din and dunya for a hafez. Q on top 3 samsung phone cameras.

[L1] Explanation of The 40 Hadīth of Al-Ḥāfidh An-Nawāwī - Ibrāhīm Al-Ḥanbalī by sunnah sauga Notes : 7/20/23, and muharram 2, 1445 Yahya ebn Sharaf Nawawi d 676. kunya Abu Zakariya, b in town NAwa in damascus, born muharram 661h. father took him to damascus in 19, studied 12 lessons a day Shafi mathhab paased at age 45. 40 nawawi book has a story, abu amr uthman saleh suhri, dictated 16 - 26 hadith that are comprehensive. Nawawi added in building Islam and pillars of Islam and added the rest Hadith 1 Acts are by intentions! Found in sahihayn. Imam MusIim is from Nasaburi. Umar ebn Khattab ebn Nufay ebn Abdul Uzza. From Banu Adi ebn Kaab of Quraysh Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him is also from Kaab. Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him in jannah saw a palace and saw a girI, he was going to eneter but said I recall Umar's girah. in another hadith said Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him said I drank milk, and then i gave it to Umar who drank it. Milk is soppose to represent ilm in this dream. Imam MusIim said Bukhari is the doctor of illah or hidden defects of hadith, This hadith is in Bukhari as hadith 1 to show importance of niyat. Ebn Hanbal said Islam is based on 4, this one, Hadith, sadaqa is for fuqara and then 7 categories.

14 :22 - Niyat can distinguish one ibada from another, sunna vs fard like with fajr! It can distinguish ibada from other acts. Muhajir umm qais wanted to mary um qais, this is why this hadith was narrated suyuti in elfiya said hijra has 2 definition, general 1, action like in hadith a MuslIm does hijrah from sins and keeps other MusIims safe from his hands, another meaning is hijra of a place of sin or bida, like in Quran 4 if you hear ayat being mocked then don't sit with them, 3rd meaning is hijra of a person or hajr boycotting, in original it's haram past 3 days based on hadith, Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him boycotted Kaab, Murah and Ummaya for up to 50 nights. Abu Abdullah ebn Jawziyah said hijr is to be medicine, if it doesn't work don't do it. some ppl do hajr and make things worse, but thats wrong! ebn Abdul Qawi al hanbali in his poem of Adab speaks of Hajr. Boycot those who publicly profess a sin. Hajr can be to boycott the wrong doer or the self, such as the hadith flee those who mock ayats or the dujaal!

Ustadh, Assalamu A'laikum, I don't know if this will reach you, but I had a question! Our Prophet Muhammad (Swallallahu a'laihi wa Sallam) said in his farewell sermon that our blood, property and honor are as holy as the Day of Sacrifice and the month of Dhul Hijjah and the land of Makkah. What does this Hadith mean? I feel like I'm destroying my honor. I hate these science-based studying even though not so much, I enjoy maths and it's not that I hate studying, but these are so pointless. What is the use of these? There's so much to study in the deen and it's also so necessary for our own hearts and lives and for the practical world too. All the world is running to CSE and high paying jobs only because money brings pleasure and power, and people honor the rich even though I don't exactly understand what is in honoring people for wealth. Probably it's because wealth brings power to make important decisions in the society which is probably what is the source of honor, and this does not have to be a Haram thing, it is only troublesome when that respect and honor of the dunya gets to people's hearts and they become arrogant, thinking of themselves as oh-so-high. But people are only chasing money through high-paying jobs, and this is what my parents want for me too. They probably don't even think that much, they probably think that if a person does not do what everybody is doing, honor is hurt. But this bogus studying is already hard on my heart because it teaches us nothing that we actually need in real life, even after leaving the deen it could teach some useful things but it doesn't. After that I can't even imagine studying this bogus for 4 more years. BUT my parents want it. I hate them, but it is an obligation to listen to them. This is not even Haram but when your parents are Jahil I can't even listen to a word that they say. This moment my mother is talking to my older sister on the phone insulting me loudly so that I can hear. This is her character, and the way she insults everybody... Nobody is free from her tongue. And my father is a liar and he transgresses when he argues with my mom, we grew up watching this and listening to these, so he is a Jahil and his judgement is with Allah, I have vowed not to pray for them. But I told him about my responsibility, despite him being the type of man who is such a fear-invoker that everybody gets scared of him, I as a woman, being 18 already, told my father to start looking for my marriage. I don't have the best looks so I have only my age, I'm 18, and also because it might take some time to find a suitor. I thought it best for the power dynamic for him to be older than me, but of course a practicing man would marry early in this time of Fitnah which I would of course prefer. But I only took the initiative to be heartbroken by him, he said that I'm not "too" brown- a complete lie, and that of course I need to study, bla bla...why the hell do I need to study this bogus as a woman?!!! This is not my responsibility in Islam! I've been trying to cut off bad friends, watch lectures and a little more. I still feel like I'm making a dumb decision for not wanting to study and hating my parents for all this. I mean I should hate them for these, but this hate causes me to shout at them or get angry sometimes. Maybe I'm not thinking the right way. What should I do Ustadh? Study, meet their expectations and go beyond, as it means to be good to our parents, get admitted into a good university and study there, having faith in Allah, even though it will hurt my heart so much? Also what if not studying means losing my honor? What does the Hadith really mean? Jazak Allahu Khayran Ustadh.

@@Therebelliousprince001 Jazak Allahu Khayran, this means...a huge lot. I think that it'll be best for me to go on with my studies, and a few years later, whether my father is alive by then or not, I'll ask the Imam to act as my Wali In Shaa Allah, since it's the most recommended to have a Wali. I just don't know how someone can be completely and utterly respectful to their parents. Even if you have Mushrik parents you should respect them with all you have, even when you disagree, you should be so loving. How can you love someone who has 0 IQ? I guess I only have to learn how to love my studies and I have to learn how to be more.......compassionate. Jazak Allahu Khayr once again. @@Therebelliousprince001 may Allah be pleased with you. I had one more question. The Imam of the mosque right near my house celebrated the Mawlid. Like he called the people to talk about how great the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was. The mosque runs by the money raised from the people. And my father also complained that he also prays really fast. So if I need to find an Imam, should he be of a nearby mosque? And to check whether he is authentic, should I find out how he leads the prayer? I have always heard that men should always go to their local Imams when they have any questions or problems. So I wondered how to find out a true Salafi local Imam, and also how to find that out as a woman. Do you have a good answer? And are mosques open for women to even enter and interrogate? I have no idea. I live in Bangladesh. Maybe if you know a good brother or sister who lives in Bangladesh, you can introduce me to her and I can ask her more questions.
