Very nice work on the HARMS, I'm currently on the struggle bus with the ancient 1/48 scale Fujimi F-4E, markings are for a Nellis AFB Phantom in 1970, the kit is from the same year and is showing every bit of its age. The Zoukei-Mura offering is the exact opposite! Happy modeling!

All of the ALE-40 chaff and flare dispensers that I saw at Ramstein on our F-4Es and on the Spangdahlem F-4Es and F-4Gs that I saw at Ramstein and Zaragoza in 1983-1986 were FS 36622 light gray or FS 34079 dark green. I never ever saw a silver ALE-40 in real life or in photos. From your photo of the pylon at around 12 minutes into the video, some ALE-40s were painted green. The chaff bundles were a flat silver, while the flares were red. I wish I could post photos here, I took a bunch back then that would probably be useful to you.

ZM doesn't provide any with the kit. BUT they do separate figures for the EJ so I think it's possible we see some USAF dudes for the G and other variants.

I have noticed one of the best wat to tell the quality of a kit is the thinness of the fins on bombs or missels. The thinner the better.

Go to the 10 Percent True KZbin channel and search for the show discussing integration of AGM-88s on Ukraine's MiG-29s. More than you ever wanted to know about the versions of HARMs and the adaptor rails.

I feel you on the Wild Weasel appeal. Playing DCS, I've realized it's the most fun mission to play. There's just something fun about knowingly targeting something that's targeting you, and having that cat-and-mouse exchange where you try to knock it our with HARMs or get the radar to sit and turn on when you throw decoys at it.

I was a UH-1 CW2 PIC flying in B company 1/159th AVN BDE. Only reason I post this is that it is amazing the wide range of technology in that conflict. We didn't even have GPS in our aircraft and were flying all over northern Saudi and Southern Iraq using only the navigation techniques we learned at Fort Mother Rucker

What's wrong with the sizing of Eduard's MERs? You mentioned this, so for my education. Thanks.

It's good your back Matt. I've got this kit as well as I am a late model f-4 fan also. I wonder did you notice a late model f-4e can be built from this kit? I just can't find aftermarket decals ugh. Meng is supposed to release f-4e/g as well
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
You can in most regards I believe. I think the only thing missing is the rear IP. There may also be some stuff with the wing tips and the tip of the tail but I haven't really looked too hard.
@DoogsModels2 жыл бұрын
Also Reid/Speed Hunter is releasing a new sheet and reprinting their Desert Storm Weasels sheet - so despair not
@adam_mawz_maas2 жыл бұрын
You can't build a proper late E from the kit, what you can build is an earlier E that's been upgraded to a slatted wing. The wing has the very visible straps that were only on the upgraded E's and all G's (which were mid-production hard-wing E's that were upgraded). Most E bits are in the kit, but not all.

Dunno really. I'm traumatized from 15+ years of agency life and timesheets so when it comes to modeling I refuse to track hours. Overall it was a bit under two weeks, but in and around other projects.

Great job so far!!!! (as always) Two questions.... 1) I noticed you painted the projectile white and then painted with MRP104 (FS36622) Did you paint the entire projectile body with FS36622 or did you paint it with FS36622 except for the radome (which you painted white)? I'm asking you this because I found a photo (i53.photobucket.com/albums/g77/Mlodj/AGM-88_zps2hdhyw7r.jpg ) of a live HARM loaded on a Hornet that looks like the radome is white 2) For the yellow stripe on the missile, you said you used an MRP yellow. Which code?
