The cone you speak of if usually called a spike. Some companies don't do this spike but the top tier header companies do. Stainless headers company markets this and says theres a huge flow difference. Interesting stuff
@burntorangeak3 жыл бұрын
Fantastic. I'm glad you're tackling the bellhousing flange that Toyan should've just cast into the block. I'm kind of surprised you didn't leave a vertical plate of material to bolt it into the cage. Typically sprint cars have a simple plate bolted to the back of the engine that reaches out to the cage uprights in front of the drivers feet. Then at the front of the engine either a single plate, or a pair of wing type plates. All hard mounted to the cage with no vibration dampening.
@timsane3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your comment! I build real racecars before so I know that my solution is not like the original.... but if you check the front and back surface of the engine, there is not a lot of space or at least a small gap to mount plates. The belt drive in front and belt drive for starter and supercharger are always blocking a plate... Thanks for watching

@heinzhaupthaar55902 жыл бұрын
Nice project, as always. You know that these engines are more miniature models to look at than actual engines to power something though, right? They are quite low power and won't hold up very well, the crankshaft and the complete lack of in-between bearing points most probably won't allow for very much. But with those limitations in mind, if it's not about performance by any means, they're still kind of nice.

Tim, check all the different screws on the Dremel. Mine always gave me problems starting and I thought it was the cord but it turned out to be the springs that hold the magnets in place. On my Dremel there is a circular boss that has a "puck" with a small straight blade screwdriver slot. It has a spring that has one of the magnets attached to it. Mine wasn't holding the magnet close enough to the stator so I wouldn't start. I wish I could explain it better to you because I'm sure your probably going to go "What??"

Some of the others that do their own machine work such as JohnnyQ, do excellent work and cool projects like yourself. That said, I really wish they would talk and explain. Even just a little voiceover would make his videos far more interesting, informative and even more entertaining. On the flip side, I get that it can be difficult for some. I'm a Grandpa and I really wish I took some non-academic electives in High School and learned machinery processes and how to weld. I've been wrenching on anything and everything I could get my hands on since I was a child. I even worked as a Nissan Tech, (Self taught, my education was in Exercise and Sports Medicine) before suffering an injury that limits my ability to wrench on large projects. I am now partially disabled. I wish I were more competent working with both metal and electrical. I'm not great with wood either. I joke that I measure 4x and cut 2x. Teehee! @@timsane Back to your project. It is just that I've seen a few of these (not this specific motor but smaller ones) that have been put into 1/10th scale RC's. They all had gearing challenges. Even when using 4 speed gear boxes, 2 speed trans with a high and low gear setting. That TOYAN FS-L400 engine is rated for 1/8th scale application max. The max RPM is only 13,500 and it puts out 3.05ps (aka horse power.) In comparison, a 1/8 scale Dynamite .28 RTR Nitro Engine achieves 30,000rpm and 2.99HP. Even a small 1/8 scale 3665 electric brushless motor puts out 50,000 rpm and 3+ HP on 4s. I just don't see that TOYAN FS-L400 doing much more than getting that beautiful big RC to go more than a handful of MPH and take a minute to get up to that top speed. Maybe a 6 speed transmission would get it going decently? Here's to hoping I'm wrong! 🥂 I am also skeptical about the clutch. I admittedly don't know what RPM those clutch spring are rated to engage at? If you mentioned it, I missed it. My concern about a clutch like that on that engine is that you may not have many RPM's remaining after the clutch engages. Wouldn't using a normal but, beefy nitro clutch be be a better match? You did do a gorgeous job regardless in the clutch that you made. Absolutely brilliant! As you said, so long as your comfortable with potential or probable, IMO, failure and have realistic expectations for performance, it's a fun and very sweet project regardless. It's not like you can't put that motor in something else down the road and put something even more bad donkey (aka Ass) into that chassis. I'll be watching!
@timsane3 жыл бұрын
@@TK_Mo a lot to discuss here... I will install an additional bad ass brushless to achieve a hybrid setup. Just make sure. Also the engine will be supercharged with REAL boost. I have realistic expectations and if it fails, i get back to the drawing board and make changes. As for the clutch: The engine idles at 5500rpm. There are 6k , ik and 10k springs from which i have chosen the 8k version. High enough above idle and hopefully with enough room after engaging. Those clutches take more abuse when installed on a strong Zenoah - so here also is a lot of confidence. There is some serious stuff coming, at least in my eyes. I am happy to have you on board!

Ein ordentliches mikro würde dem channel nicht schaden 🙄😅

Alles noch schwierig für mich.. seit heute habe ich einen Kamera-Mann - das wird die Qualität spürbar verbessern. Filmen heute was viel entspannter für mich. Aber ein wireless Mikro wäre noch top. Hast du einen Tip welches ich für mein Ipad nehmen kann?
