As I've been flight simming since flight simulator 98 I can tell you this makes me so so happy. Everytime a sim would come out I'd have to get a new PC and most the time desktop pc hardware was a year behind maxing out the graphics on these sims. So to know I can use my xbox to play it will save me thousands if my current PC doesnt work. I do hope all the extra peripherals (ms sidewinder force feedback 2 ;) ) they are adding will work on xbox too as I can see a controller being hard since previous sims use every combination on the keyboard of all sorts of stuff. Hope also they have missions like in FSX and a tutorial like 98 I miss the old couple that were on it. Think they where called the kings.

To date I have no idea whether the essential flight sim peripherals like Thrustmaster TCA Airbus sidestick or Thrustmaster TPR rudder pedals will be compatible with Xbox Series X. I do know that Track IR advised me that their head tracking system is not compatible with Xbox. So it seems that as usual Microsoft is only interested in general gamers and not simmers! It is sad because the hardware spec looks good for the money. I hope I am proved wrong but asking Microsoft produces zilch in the way of answers.

The graphics are astonishing, the realism looks to be second to none and the sheer fact that all the cities, airports, buildings and trees IN THE ENTIRE WORLD will be present makes for something truly special. I've been following dev closely, keep in mind their first builds will be on PC but are scheduled to be released on Xbox as well. That's not yet confirmed to be Xbox one but if is, compariable PC specs at a minimum build be a GTX 750Ti. Simulators are notoriously CPU heavy, and Asobo are building off the FSX core modified by dovetail but in 64Bit with actual multi-thread support. Hopefully most 4th gen i7's should do the trick. During the press preview in Renton a few weeks back, early pre-release builds were being played on 2080ti's at just over 30fps. I know that sounds bad but keep in mind a few things: - still an early build with loads of debug features still in the sim which intrurn we're eating resources - they were actually running it in 4k where as the average user would be running 1080p - most simulators are run at a consistent locked 30 anyway to allow a smooth calculation of flight dynamics. FS2020 has been confirmed to simulate just shy over 1000 surfaces of an aircrafts structure at an adaptive fps level meaning it keeps up with your framerate.. The only other things we know about graphics is that the release will be DX11 with DX12 support and RTX support along the way.

That was already announced, both at E3 and at the recent press event. No doubt there will be a "Project Scarlett" version too later on down the road but it's coming to PC first then being ported to Xbox One. No, it's not built on FSX, that alone proves you've not been following the devs statements at all, they specifically answered that question at the press event. Their answer was that they got the data from Dovetail, looked at it very closely, deemed 99% of it obsolete and binned it. There's a tiny amount of FSX code in this sim as the old FSX engine was nowhere near up to task for the requirements of this sim. No, most people won't be running it at 1080p -where are you getting your info from? Seriously, you are misleading people. Please stop. Most of the work is done server side so resolutions above 1080p will be achievable for most people.There's also no DX12 planned at the moment and RTX isn't used as it's a DX11 engine with ray tracing effects simulated but no RTX ray tracing. What I would advise most people do if they want to learn more about the sim is go to the Microsoft Flight Simulator website and not listen to people like "Scotty McLean".

While some people have implied that all of the world will have complete 3D textures, that one is still open for verification. MS themselves have thrown out that only 400 cities with buildings will be this way (as opposed to about 1600 entire photogrammetry produced re regions in Google Earth). And at least one video blogger (who also attended the event) found and has SHOWN (and commented about specifically) 2D to 3D texture boundary lines just like is seen in Google Earth. At that boundary line on Long Island he showed that the buildings stopped being in 3D. So don't get over enthused on the 3D texture aspect of buildings until this shakes out more. Yes it will be nice, but it MAY not be all that that has been implied so far by some people..

If you don't have gamepass, just give it a download when Flight Simulator launches, try the game out and cancel it the next month if you don't like it. You can typically get Gamepass for about $1 for your first month. So pay $1, try out Flight Simulator, then cancel before you get billed if it's not for you ;)

Trees are exaggerated... In Brazil, the whole country is looking like Amazon Forest. Some airports are impossible to land due to super tall trees blocking the runway and they are everywhere!
