4,501 is the number of Mk1's that were made, of which I have had one since 2004. They built about 11,500 of the Mk2, and absolutely shed loads of the Mk3

I can definitely confirm that the 2.5ltr volvo engine is shite on fuel but it makes such a good noise. Got a full custom 3" turbo back on my Volvo V70R but with the volvo build quality and sound deadening it doesn't drone and is easy to live with, my neighbours may say different though 😂😂

As someone else has said mate I’d be confident it’s the boost solenoid, I need to replace mine on my mk2 ST as I don’t have any proof it’s been changed before and I get the odd occasion in 4th gear where it drops boost for a second and then gives full boost again, some people change them quite often as it’s a high stress component, give that a go mate, they’re not too expensive either and should be easy for you with your mechanic knowledge now days 😉🤣

Epic video Ben as always! I took the Mrs, 12 yr old twin daughters, 10 yr old step-son, and 5 yr old daughter to Disneyland Paris this time last year for a few days over the New Years from Formby and back in my LR Disco Sport doing c1500 miles with a couple of detours. Faultless drive (believe it or not for a Land Rover) but I'd have taken the RS exhaust sound over 4 kids in the car any day of the week :D Merry Christmas mate!

Absolutely a stonker of a video pal. The sound from both engine and exhaust is sweet and purrs beautiful. Nothing beats a petrol engine, sound or smell just pure bliss. Same with all my motorbikes, the smell, sound and everything about them Sorry u had a boost issue, but 100% behind you when you say cars have personalities. Each car have their own DNA I’ve had all Mks Focus just never RS. But I love how the drive and just feel safe and planted on the road. @@EVILGT i had a very similar issue on my old mk2 rs and it was the knock sensor. know fault codes just exact same issue, only changed the knock sensor as it was the last thing left that i hadnt changed and thats what fixed it

Great video, love the road trips. Not sure about this time of year but if you go down to the Rhine from the city centre there are loads of places to sit out eat & drink. if you cross the bridge and go to the other side there is a massive fair on the other side and plenty of plces to sit in the sun and have a beer.I've been to Düsseldorf twice in the last two years on the bikes but go in the summer months, way better. Keep up the road trip videos.

Had a very similar boost issue with a mk2 MR2, would only run full boost on shell V power. Even on Momentum it wouldn’t give full power. Could be same thing, run a few tanks through it

It did seem to gradually get better as the trip went on and the fuel got better… Boosted cars can be picky with fuel especially if it’s had a map at some point, how’s it been since??

As already said boost solenoid, the low volume figure was for the MK1 Focus RS too buddy. I plan to do this next year when they end production of the Focus. They've already killed off the RS branding, and the Fiesta, the Focus is next year and Ford are fuuumin' because the government delayed mandatory electrification of cars 🫤

The 4501 number only applies to the Mk1 Focus RS unfortunately. The Mk2 is more like 12k.

Mat put in the lowest quality in the usa. 98ron in germany is just fine and isn't bad quality at all. Some stations even offer 102octane.

It's the maf sensor that's causing the issues with boost. Easy easy fix..£250-300. Only buy bosch

Boost control solenoid on the way out? Get a genuine MAC solenoid put in, about £80. Great trip mate, would love to do same in my self built ST. Edit: haha, should have commented after seeing the whole vid lol. See, I was right! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I fix these things.
