I’m in the USA and when I got otitis externa they irrigated it with hot water. It caused so much more pain, all because they wanted to get some wax out so they could see and get the ear drops down in where they had to go. It was awful. I’m so glad your patients don’t have to suffer like that.
@lizmcmahon2757Ай бұрын
US here also-they all seem to prefer to irrigate as opposed to any other type of removal…It is like having an ear ENEMA and typically causes more pain and issues. My GP also did that to me and I was dizzy and sick for a week- I bought one of those camera things just to get a look and there was wax left in the ear that I am guessing they couldn’t see with their otoscope. I’ve had tubes in both ears as a child with a 60% hearing loss. I did water therapy after being born with hip dysplasia and had hip spika body cast and braces for 3 years-water therapy was used to help me learn to walk and I was a fish. However, swimmers ear and multiple ear infections as well as a perforated ear drum after a particularly nasty infection have left me with scarring as an adult and I tend to develop wax issues that cause ear pain and ear “zaps”. I wish they would employ more of these techniques in the US. Ear Enemas are no fun at all.

Who the hell put HOT WATER into someone's ear as treatment?! That's like, one way of giving them deafness!
@unown820227 күн бұрын
@@Mr_Jester980I think what they meant was warm water but given how sensitive the ear canal is on top of having that type of complication(?), it might as well FEEL hot and is certainly uncomfortable. I just can’t imagine them using literal hot water but if it is indeed as they said, they should really have their practice revoked.

I'm a scuba diver and my best tricks to prevent and treat swimmers ears are: 1. Hydrogen peroxide. I love the feeling of it bubbling away in the ear! It's not ideal as it's corrosive to skin, however, I've found it much more effective in clearing up an infection than antibiotic ear drops. 2. Alsol alcohol solution, or a homemade version consisting of rubbing alcohol and white vinegar. For both solutions, pour it in, let it sit for a minute or two, shake it out. If you have an infection, use it every few hours until the swelling goes down and it's starting to clear up. For preventive measures, use after you get out of the water, or when you start feeling a flare up.

Oil ear drops work better and don't damage the sensitive ear skin
@eatplastic913315 күн бұрын
But you have to put them in a glass of hot water to warm them ! This is very important- never put anything cold in your ears. Also test them on your inner hand if they're too hot so you don't burn yourself. Like you would test baby milk. Also - ear puffs and hats. Always cover your ears in winter

Would you recommend ear plugs when swimming in a pool or in the sea. I've never used one but when I hear of these bugs in tap water or oceanic water it's a wonder more of us don't get ear infections.
@apb3815 күн бұрын
Ever since my 1st ear infection I have been prone to them. I flush out my ears 2 to 3 times a week. I quickly learned that I cannot use tap water as it will cause an infection. I have to use bottled water, primarily distilled, cause that's what I drink. I also will mix a little (about 10%) alcohol in my ear plunger and it helps as well. I've found that chlorine pools are safe as well for my ears.

I want to my ENT. My name is Jeanette Bedford I live in the United States. And I have a question for you?? They told me that I have a heartening to my eardrum and I also have a thickening to my eardrum how is that possible. Every time I try to blow my nose my right ear hurts. I was born death in my left ear which it just started opening up 5 years ago. And I'm 61 years old now. And they told me there's nothing they can do with my ears because of the Harding to my eardrum and thickening to my eardrum it would bother me for the rest of my life. I have a a hearing test and I can hear out of both ears but I can hear it the weirdest noises if you talk loud to me I can block you out. If you whisper I can hear every word you say to me. They wanted to flush my ears like I told him no you can never do that. When I take a shower and get water in my ears it hurts very bad. Can you just try to help me find out what they're talking about I would really appreciate it thank you . Mr ear whisperer..
