At first I thought cutting a hole in the correct metal sheet, so you can glue the lower section to the neck support piece, would work. But then I thought how it would mess with the interior lighting. Making the strips was a great idea! Btw, red on bottom. 😉

I have suggested to Helios that they add pass throughs for wiring and holes to bold/screw down the metal plate to the resin block. Hopefully those upgrades will make it to the replacement parts... although I doubt I'll use the replacement metal part on the second copy of the kit. Probably stick with my styrene sheet solution. Saves a lot of weight.

Nice to hear that we don't actually need that metal plate. The model should already be solid enough once it's epoxied together.

Very true. Might have been simpler for Helios just to add the sensor band as part of the lower secondary hull part.

A 1" pipe refers to the inner diameter being 1". To get an otter size of 1" you likely need to find something in a MM size. I would recommend drilling out the hole to fit the outer diameter of the 1" pipe and that would give a great seal and be very secure.

I considered making it larger, but I don't have access to a drill bit large enough and any other method would lead to an uneven opening. So... the work around!

This is really coming along great so far, I liked your problem solving with the secondary hull sensor strips. As for the Jacket, I like the one with the black shoulders best because it reminds me of Captain Picard's Casual duty jacket that he occasionally wore from Season 5's "Darmok" up until Season 7's "Attached".

I know it's a bit late, but Helios are European based so measurements will be in centimetres not inches, so that is probably your issue.

We are metric here in canada also, but it gets a little odd when it comes to things like plumbing copper pipe sizing... which is not in metric. Very odd here!

Actually, it depends on the type of pipe. In northern Europe copper water piping and pvc electric piping is in inches, steel central heating piping and pvc wastewater piping is metric. In any case, none of that ought to have any bearing on the model as likely hollow metric aluminium tubing was used as the benchmark, which is the standard here for modelmaking.
