This is one real prove that Ethiopia was one of the pioneers of Judeo Christianity. Some western people think that Ethiopia is like any other African countries and they try to spread Christianity by sending missioners. Ethiopians can teach the real authentic christianity to western people not vise-versa.

I have recently discovered that Early Christians observed the Sabbath day on Saturday and gathered for the Eucharist on Sunday or the Lord's day. The Romans banned the observance of the Sabbath day during the Council of Laodicea, but the Ethiopians have continued this tradition until this day.

@@Jerônimo_de_Estridão Constitutions of the Apostles, Book VIII, "XXXIII. I Peter and Paul do make the following constitutions. Let the slaves work five days; but on the Sabbath-day and the Lord’s day let them have leisure to go to church for instruction in piety. We have said that the Sabbath is on account of the creation, and the Lord’s day of the resurrection. Let slaves rest from their work all the great week, and that which follows it-for the one in memory of the passion, and the other of the resurrection; and there is need they should be instructed who it is that suffered and rose again, and who it is permitted Him to suffer, and raised Him again..." The Bible declares that Jesus was crucified the day before the Sabbath day. Mark 15:42 "And now when the even was come, because it was the apreparation, that is, the day before the sabbath..." Jesus was resurrected on the third day(Sunday), the day after the Sabbath. Hence it became known as the Lord's day. This is made very clear by a great many pre-Nicene literature that has survived to this day. They clearly refer to the Sabbath day and the Lord's day as twp separate days. Over three hundred years later, the Council of Laodicea outlawed the observance of the Sabbath day because it was considered a Jewish custom, and Jews were not very popular in those days. Council Of Laodicea, Synod of Laodiceea, AD 365. Canon 29 "Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ." Even in this canon they differentiate between the Lord's day (Sunday) and the Sabbath day(saturday).

@@bekimbal9658 Thank you for the info you put here. To add a bit, The council of Laodicea is just a local council, it wasn't an ecumenical council and Ethiopian orthodox church only accepts cannons from the first 3 ecumenical councils. So The Church has kept the early books and traditions as they are and still observe the Sabbath day.
