The thought, experiment, dilligence and effort that goes into your builds never ceases to bring a smile and a shake of my head. Amazing work and a pleasure to watch as always.

Great job, looks top-notch my friend! I have been eagerly awaiting this video and then it seemed to be over so fast. You are really gifted at explaining what you are doing and showing it for us to learn from. The tail looks awesome! Great conversion work and painting. I look forward to seeing you tackle the large decals!

That is one of the best techniques for representing AFRSI blankets I have ever seen. I'll have to try that on my next shuttle build. The tail is also looking phenomenal. Nice reference using the Space in Miniature SIM3 book BTW.

I have been bing watching your vids lately , considering the shut in conditions . Amazing work and the bases just make it that much better if thats possible . I see you provide a model build service , good to know because if i have three wishes although i only need one you might be the genie to make that happen . lol ..

Its cool that the silts pod was left on the vertical stab on the model.

Your model has so many surface textures, it’s amazing to watch how you are replicating them. I have a Shuttle kit in my stash for years when I used to work for Rockwell...on the B-1B, not the Shuttle. Maybe it just raised up a tad in my queue after watching this series. BTW...if the tape matched the real blankets perfectly, I think your completed kit would cost more than your house! All we can do is the best we can do. Great job!

Been viewing this video a few times today before I start on the thermal blankets on mine. Decided to follow your method and ordered some medical tape from Amazon and, when it has turned up, it appears to be a plastic rather than a cloth material so it looks like I'll not need to worry about frayed edges...

Hi ! Many thanks for your video and the very great job you done on this model. I am currently work on the tamiya model of the Space shuttle. The scale is 1/100 and I would like to knowledge what is your recommandation to realize the same effect for the thermal blankets? I am afraid that the medical tape will be to big for this scale...
@seanerk5kt93 жыл бұрын
You might look into textured paper that you could cut shapes out of. I’m guessing there’s some fancy stationary out there that might be closer to scale for you.

Been watching your video a few more times as I've finally got round to starting the thermal blankets on my shuttle. I've found that no matter how sharp the blade or how well I seal the tape, I'm finding it very difficult to get a consistently neat edge to the blankets. Having ordered a couple of 3D parts for my shuttle, I wonder if 3D printing may be a solution for the blankets...

Looks nice But do you recommend using 0.3mm thick styrene ?

I think the texture of the tape is probably perfect. You can get that tape in widths up to 2”, and you can even find it in sheet. Maybe try removing the adhesive and apply it with CA.

Days and days spent just masking up,, that's therapy,,🤪 I thought, maybe the modge podge would act as a sealer for the fraying edges issue, Looks sharp, wish the texture would show up better on screen. Top work, P.s. Did you get your 'shuichi' book yet ?

Primedmodelworks you can open and close the doors on it . And I really want to put them blankets on it but still open and close the doors. I’m going to try your technique on it when I get it done I’ll try to send you some pictures
@seanerk5kt94 жыл бұрын
Ahh, I was thinking of a different video...thought you were asking about something else. My bad. Yeah this should work, just make sure you leave enough space along the hinge area so the blankets don’t interfere with it opening. Would love to see it:)

This will probably come off as being "curmudgeonly"- but you can sharpen Xacto blades. Back in the days of Keylining, all our production artists had sharpening stones and it was no big deal to put a fresh point on your #11. Faster too.

Why does this just keep getting better and better? If your not fired up about this build, your wood is wet! Not accurate my fanny! It’s exactly the way it looked on the real shuttle!
