Removing the Intake manifold from this Audi A6 c5 1.8t can give acces to other parts like engine oil cooler , thermostat , Positive cranckcase ventilation point , knock sensors and so on . Also replacing the intake manifold gasket can fix a lot of your lean condition in your engine .

Thanks. The crankcase ventilation hose on my 1999 audi a4 1.8t Quattro sedan 95k miles has a 3 inch Crack on it. Became suspicious when I would smell oil when I parked and could smell oil scent when I stuck my nose into the front wheel well. This does not look like fun and im sure my local German auto repair shops will charge over $1000 to do this

I ordered all new plastic Üro check valves and all new PCV ventilation hoses as they're all 22 years old. If I have to remove the metal intake manifold to replace my cracked hose I might as well replace all plastic and rubber parts while I have it off. Bought a new manifold gasket also. But Im having issues building up my confidence of removing everything.

@@johnnywalker5635 I plan to do this job as well. I think you can do it by only removing the throttle body. Still waiting on the parts, I have to replace the whole assembly on mine. I would love to hear how you managed to tackle your car.

@@astronutz6623 replaced it all. And then sold the car for what I bought it for. 😆 spontaneous decision. Got rid of a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro M/T. And bought a 2011 BMW 328xi 3.0L normally aspirated Inline-6 M/T. Audi transmission shifting was a lot more enjoyable

Yeah, your videos are brilliant. detailed , clear, step by step. I have A4 b5 2000 (103k miles) and replacing all those hoses underneath intake manifold. Your right, Audi made a mess with all those vacuum lines. Thanks for the good instructions ! I even showed my mechanic ..haha

Done incredibly well! 👏 Question: Did you not replace that T pipe for the PCV? 5:22 I need to replace that whole assembly and am trying to do it without removing the intake manifold - it's really difficult to reach though

Thank you for this video. It helps a lot to see all the steps and details to take the intake manifold off. What I noticed is that your intake vales were absolutely shiny and clean. Can you say what was the rough mileage of this engine prior to this video and have ever cleaned these valves before at all, please? I'm interested to know because I have the same engine on my Passat 2003 and it has 318000 km on the clock now and was thinking to take the manifolds to inspect and clean the intake valves. Not because I have any problems with the engine but just thought that with this mileage they would probably be covered with carbons. But looking at yours I wonder if mines are not that bad too then might not worth the hassle to do all this for nothing. Thank you.

The intake valves will be cleaned by the gasoline sprayed by the injectors . No need for cleaning unless is the TSI or TDI engine . It was around 190 000 km

will that fix the oil smell that i get in the cabin, i have already replaced all those vacume lines and still smell oil

You can inspect the valve cover gaske for oil leaks

There is a half moon gasket on the chain side. That will leak and burn on the exhaust and go in the cabin.

Hi quick question, do you need to replace the gasket on the throttle body or could we use the existing one?
