1-Bay NAS Drives - Before You Buy

I have a DS1819+ and I bought the DS118 with a 12TB drive just to use as hyperbackup vault. Nothing more, nothing less. I also have a USB backup from my DS1819+ through hyper backup. Offsite backup i'm using C2 from Synology and Google Drive for the most crucial files

1 bay nas could be used for a backup for a nas with raid. However recently I have been looking at options to backup my nas with raid, but this 1 bay nas would be more expensive than a usb backup for the nas. Would be nice to see on this channel comparisons of using some of the 4 bay usb to sata enclosures (without raid) to backup the nas with raid as compared to this 1 bay nas option without raid for nas with raid backup.

I would love to see a quick video comparison of 1 2 and 4 bay nas. I have a main storage and vm nas, I need a cheap but not bad off the shelf nas to ack as automatic backups

One bay NAS sounds like a good way to lose data to disk failure. Hopefully people only use these devices as backup targets.

Just use the USB port to plug a external hdd to backup.

A 1-bay would be great to backup a main NAS using snapshot replication.

I want to ask…. Can you use a wd mycloudmirror in non raid as a backup for a synology… as a jabod? Over network I have a 2 bay my cloud mirror and a sunology ds720 both units have have 2-4tb hdds wd reds and iron wolf red… just a curious thought process… for nas and in turn expandability …

It should work by using Synology hyper backup I suppose. Never used wd mycloud, but synology hyper backup have options of different protocols exactly for making backups on almost everything.

NAS Question: I have a MyCloudEX2Ultra NAS on my local network. I noticed the files are not showing the same on my PC as the mycloud app shows on my iphone. Mycloud app on my iphone shows files that have long since been moved or deleted that are not visible on my PC, but the files are still usable. Is there some option that i need to select to make them sync with each other? The NAS has 2 WD Gold 16tb drives in it, running in raid 1.

Maby these files are not deleted/moved due to mirroring? (auto restored by raid)

Hi, can you help an inexperienced user. I currently have a 4tb WD My cloud running the outdated operating system. This device has suited me so far, but I'm concerned that I can't now connect it to the internet. I've been looking at your 2 bay nas recommendations, so is this what you would recommend for me. I use it to backup my laptop and accumulated family photos, currently around 1.5 tb. Many thanks for your help.

I will backup my entire life on this 1-bay NAS, what else could go wrong?
