I used to work as a computer technician. The shopper was right. You can't replace only one single button. You need to replace entire keyboard depends on laptop model. For some model, the keyboard is integrated with the palmrest (including touchpad and the rest) so you might need to replace entire palmrest. But dont worry. No internal parts involved. Replacing T button with an unnecessary button is your brilliant creativity. Many technician never know it.

Doug, you dont need to walk one round to Pudu (but i guess ur more familiar with that route, and much safer). From Kota Raya or the Maybank road, just walk straight. You walked there before, remember? Its just a straight road passing by Berjaya Times Square on ur left and Lalaport Mall on ur right. Also, the Plaza Rakyat LRT station is connected to the Merdeka MRT station. You can just take the MRT to Maluri MRT, walk to Maluri LRT and from there take the LRT to Pudu. But i guess its faster to just walk there. I often eat at 68 whenever i am around the area for many years. But only now i know the name. Never pay attention to it before. Its economical rice. You can also take free tea too, also free soup.

I was actually aware of that route. That's the first route that Google Maps suggests when you ask it for walking directions. But it goes along a big, busy street. I was more in the mood for small streets and a more interesting route. And that main route and the one I followed are pretty much the same distance anyway. That one seems to be 2.8 kilometers. And the route I followed is 3 kilometers, so there isn't much difference. I was also confused by the other route, the more direct one. It also has to go over that very busy road (Jalan Imbi/Jalan Hang Tuah) at a crazy intersection. And my memory is that that is very difficult to do. Google Maps has you walking down the center of the highway in a straight line. But I don't remember any kind of pedestrian bridge allowing for that. I have a vague memory of having to somehow navigate Berjaya Times Square and LaLaport, and it was nearly impossible to get across there. I was running across busy lanes and trying to find gaps in fences and all that kind of stuff. But I knew there was a simple pedestrian bridge near Hang Tuah station and Masjid Al Bukhari. I'd gone over that bridge many times. I guess I was more in the mood for what I was familiar with. 🙂 It just ended up being a lot hotter than I was expecting.
@CSChua Жыл бұрын
The plaza Rakyat station is just two stations to Pudu n not affected by the broken section. Once you cross the road at the junction you will be in food heaven, morning day and night. Turn right as you come out of Pudu on the side street through the fencing gate to cross the junction. "Nobody" uses that bridge 😅. Where you are just hop on at Masjid Jamek. The disruption is only between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya.
@PlanetDoug Жыл бұрын
But there seems to be a spillover problem at Hang Tuah. When I take the train from Masjid Jamek to Pudu, the train now stops at Hang Tuah. It doesn't actually go to Pudu anymore. You have to get off the train at Hang Tuah and walk up and over to another platform and get on a different train. And I don't know how, but it seems to be related to the disruption of the line from Masjid Jamek to Bandaraya and on to Sentul Timur. That's part of the reason I was reluctant to take the LRT from Masjid Jamek or from Plaza Rakyak. I can only go one or two stops. And then I have to get off the train at Hang Tuah and go to a different platform and wait for another train. And it can be quite crowded and chaotic there. It's a lot of work just to get to Pudu. Of course, the route that I followed on my walk was a LOT of work, too. 🤪
@CSChua Жыл бұрын
@@PlanetDoug Looks like you have to walk to the other platform to continue the journey. Quote From another video " On 27/01/2023, train services between Masjid Jamek and Bandaraya stations were disrupted by a structural damage on the elevated viaduct as well as the damaged rails. As a safety measures, no trains are allowed to pass through that section. The LRT operates in 3 separate services as follow: Normal Service between Putra Heights/Ampang and Hang Tuah Shuttle Service between Hang Tuah and Masjid Jamek using single track Shuttle Service between Bandaraya and Sentul TImur The shuttle service which is only served by 1 train uses down track and only stops at Platform 2 for Hang Tuah, Plaza Rakyat and Masjid Jamek. Surprisingly, it does not take long to wait for the next shuttle service. With this shuttle service activated, the shuttle train and trains terminating at Hang Tuah can be seen going on the opposite direction."

The locked gate is a special access to the school above. It is not a public access route. May I suggest using Google maps car route 1st before using the foot travel route. That way you will see a different & probably more direct way. The LRT has been fixed so no more transfers by bus. That was my old school, so I know the area well. Walking by Jalan Pudu, the main road would be quicker but not the Doug style ! You seem to divert as much as possible.
@PlanetDoug Жыл бұрын
I figured out eventually that that locked gate led to a schoolground. But that's the walking route that Google Maps laid out for me. It led me to a dead end. 🙂 I sometimes look at the recommended driving routes as well. And then I can pick whichever looks best, or even combine them. Often with driving, Google has to take into account one-way streets and complex intersections. And that can make the driving route really crazy. But when you're walking, you can just cut through the intersection or go against traffic on the one-way street. For some cities, the suggested cycling route is the perfect compromise. But not for Kuala Lumpur. KL is so difficult for cycling that Google doesn't even try to give cycling options.

I definitely got a lot of pleasure out of doing that. I guess it's a good example of lateral thinking, and I'm usually terrible at lateral thinking. I get fixated on a certain perspective, and then it takes a lot for me to see an out-of-the-box solution. But this time, the light bulb went off, and I realized that I didn't have to go to a computer shop and buy another "T". I had keys on my keyboard that I never used. I could pop one off and click it into place where the T used to be. I was so happy when that worked. 😀

Time 14:44 🤔 I don't known this area? - You may refer this place as Jalan Kenanga area ( or 何清园/Ho Cing Jyun to the local chinese in Cantonese). This area is KL clothing wholesale center. 😰 that's why you find discarded🦿mannequins 🦾 here (time 16:16 ), as to the old cars 🚙🚕🚗? looks like 🏦 City Hall wants to turn this place as junkyard 🤬. 🏢 The tall white building you saw (time 15:05) is the KWC (Kenanga Wholesale City), a nine-story clothing wholesale mall. Time 23:26 🤔 Looking at the sky ☀️ - 🥸 My experience 👇 🧐 If many big puffy clouds ☁️☁️☁️, rain in 3 or 4 hours. 🌂 🧐 If only scatter small ☁️, no rain in 3 or 4 hours. 🧢 🧐 if 🌦️⛈️🌨️, ☔ 🤷😅

A lot of people have suggested shortcuts here in the comments. But when I look at them, they all seem to be roughly the same length as the route I followed. I think maybe the video makes my journey there look much farther and more difficult than it actually was. 😀 That's probably because I ran into a couple of deadends and had to backtrack.
@thelighthousehunter1971 Жыл бұрын
@@PlanetDoug yes you're right, but the path for the shortcut is more pedestrian friendly

The route you took way too far Doug. The shortest should be through Leboh Ampang. Just go straight to Maybank Main Branch building and further up youll see Pudu Sentral. From there you just walk along Jalan Pudu for another one and a half km to reach Pudu Plaza.
@PlanetDoug Жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, that route is roughly the same length as how I got there. It looks to be about 2.8 kilometers and the path I followed seems to be around 3 kilometers. I remember looking at all the various options that Google Maps suggested, and they were all roughly the same length. It didn't seem to matter which route I followed. In any event, I was in the mood to follow small streets and go through some back alleys and things like that. The main routes follow the big streets and I guess I was feeling more adventurous. @PlanetDoug Жыл бұрын
I guess the way the videos turned out, it's confusing. One problem is that it took so long to get the visa extension, that much of the extension was already used up by the time I got it. That's the crazy thing about these 30-day visa extensions. If it takes you 14 days to apply for and process the visa extension, half the extension is already gone by the time you get it. Time goes by so fast on these short visas. And then the Ramadan holidays confused everything, and I lost more days. And I lost days to trying to fix my SIM card problems. It felt like by the time I got my visa extension and I edited some videos and got my phones running again, my visa extension was already expiring, and I had to start planning my flight back to KL. All I did for a month was deal with logistics and problems. 🙂 I haven't given up on the bike tour. My bicycle is still in the village outside of Bukittinggi. I have to book a return flight soon, and then I will be reunited with my bike, and assuming that the rainy season has finally ended, I can do some cycling. Though I must say that this experience is FAR from the bike tour experience I was expecting. I've really done next to no actual bike touring. With my initial knee problems and other things, all I really did was cycle from Dumai to Bukittinggi. I really like having the bike with me, but that's not much of a bike tour. It's certainly far less cycling than I was planning on doing. Hopefully, I can do a bit more when I return. But it's pretty clear that cycling and shooting videos isn't a great combination. It's hard to find the time to do both.
