Sorry, but am I the only one that knows that the biggest difference from the 7th to the 8th gen intel cpu's. Is that it now packs a quad core proccesor instead of dual core. What means more performence, but more cores to power, which wil decrease the batterij life faster.

its not as simple as that...intel has obviously made these new chips more efficient because 8th gen ultrabooks are getting the better battery life than last few years.
@jauffins6 жыл бұрын
It's *not* as simple as that, as +Sphenix explains. The 8250u, for example, has much lower base frequency than the 7200u it replaces, which results in lower overall power draw. When turboing, the 8250u tends to stay (for longer-term turbo scenarios) in the 2.0-2.3Ghz clockspeed range, depending on cooling, whereas the 7200u's base clockspeed is 2.5Ghz. Intel has done better with frequency management which in turn directly affects power draw.

256gb ssd, 4 core intel i5, 8gb ram for someone who watches some video on youtube, writes some emails and uses the tablet mode? A bit overkill :) the I3 is a better match for such light computing, and even that may be overkill. Despite from this, great video, just subscribed! :)

There are thinkpad Yogas too - so you need to make the difference there! :) This is an ideapad and not a thinkpad. That's why it hasn't got the trackpoint.

Not true that Y series still need a fan. Many run fanless. I have an m3 surface and my girlfriend has an Asus broadwell core m, both fanless.

Partially wrong on the CPU. I have the Yoga 720 13” and mine has the Core i7-8550u processor. Also has 16GB RAM - which you can no longer get with the 730-series. My laptop has a build date of Jan-2018.

12:40 Surfaces Pros are powered by intel and they are passively cooled. They thermal throttle pretty easily of course but some people value silence more than peak performance.

Should I purchase the Yoga 730 13" or 15"? The difference in price is $160 Canadian. The 15" Yoga also comes with a GTX 1050 4GB GPU I'll be using it for College, general use and maybe some light photoshop/gaming
@Hotshot976 жыл бұрын
Jordan Chow definitely place your hand s on 730 , due to i7 8550 u which is quad core and is a 15 w tdp as compared to 7700hq which is slightly better in multi core performance benchmarks , plus you dont have fast charging on 720 one plus 2gb more vram for your graphics utility work on 730 , 51 wh is not an issue specially if you fast charging with a low 15 tdp processor
@ZonaALG6 жыл бұрын
You must go for 15" Is just way better and will give you more performance in graphics, totally worth it for $160

Hello,..., And the same model with i7-8550U and 16Gb of ram and a SSD 512Gb, what's the differences? And the on-board graphics UHD 620 is enough to edition videos and Photos? The model YOGA 730-15KB-473 have a Nvidia and it's more cheap than this one 730-13ikb, why? Could you tell me please? Farewell from Portugal 🇵🇹 okay 👌 😁 👍

Odd that last yrs 720 has the 7th gen Core i5. I actually have the 720 but it has the 8th gen Core i5-8250U that bought in late Feb this year (manufactured 2/15/18, according to the label on the bottom). Perhaps Lenovo updated the CPU at the tail end of the 720's life??
@Philbyyyy6 жыл бұрын
Indeed they did. So i'm not sure if much has really changed with the 730.
@Cz007_6 жыл бұрын
Cact I They only thing they changed was the contours of the lid. When the new 730 is closed, there's no "overbite" that the 720 has. In addition, there's also Rapid Charge in the 730, in which the 720 lacked. Otherwise, it's the same hardware in terms of display and ports

I recently ordered a ThinkPad L380 with the same specs. Should I go for the yoga730 instead?? I went for ThinkPad as durability is important for me. But this machine is very enticing.
@w2best6 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you need! They are not really similar machines. This is a yoga with touch at 1,1 kg and L380 is a workstation with better port selection and keyboard but without the thunderbolt and touch/pen support. You can get your L380 to 32gb ram - so if you're gonna do productivity stuff - stay with it! If you need touch/yoga thunderbolt for Egpu or similar - change! :) But check out the thinkpad yoga alternatives too x380 is the latest one that is pretty decent priced! :)

From the day I bought this laptop, it's giving me some issue or another. It keeps hanging. It heats up too fast. Touchpad next to keyboard does not work so I use the touchscreen to navigate. The area around the keypad (metal area), color has come off. Overall, I just did not have a good experience. Complete waste of my money.

You should look into changing the fan settings. You access it during startup, when you hold down some f key (i forget). There are videos on here, for instructions.

I just bought this laptop to DJ and now I realize it is only 1.6ghz and my rekordbox program saids I need a processor with minimum of 2.0ghz. I know the turbo boost will make up this difference but when I DJ I go long hours like 5 hours straight and I don't want to stress and damage my laptop with turbo boost for 5 hours. Anyone know if this i5 8250 is good to run constantly with rekordbox?
@CoD6HModthedeisel6 жыл бұрын
It supposedly supports multi-core support. So it should run on all 4 cores with a lower clock.
@djtransaction19826 жыл бұрын
Jose Alfredo I already tried it, it's running a bit warm maybe like 39c and I get audio distortion, my mp3s sound like they are playing from a Vinyl record, that kind of distortion. But only when I play it thru my ddj RR pionner DJ controller. I know it's not the problem with the controller because it works fine with my other laptop.

Comparing the potential dangers from those microphones versus benefit of asking the computer from a few feet away... THIS IS NOT A FEATURE, it is a hazard. And if people are too lazy to walk a few feet to check for the weather once a day they should question their lifestyle
