I've watched a ton of these 9i reviews, and this is the best one I've seen. You talk about so many things, possibilities, flaws and comparisons that other review videos just don't. Actually saying what brightness level you used to test the battery and giving specific details about use while testing it--awesome. I am using the 9i right now and love it, but I 100% would say that, except for the multiple screens, Macs are better. Personally, on just battery power, I would mainly like to use this to stream videos, and when I have tried that it was obvious I wasn't going to get the 6-7 hour battery life people keep mentioning for this, no matter the brightness level.

That's largely still a risk with a conventional laptop. To me this seems much more conventional than say these plastic foldable OLED screens with a giant grease is and scratch at level two. That's why I think dual screens make more sense then foldable OLED screens

That’s why you buy the insurance-it’s a $2k+ laptop. It’s definitely more durable than a foldable device, but there’s an awful lot of screen to get scratched, cracked, etc.

Great video! I think this laptop makes good use of the two screens. The more screens and use cases the better in my opinion. How does the performance compare to the Galaxy Book you reviewed? I'd love to see a comparison. I could definitely see myself using one of these for programming.

Yeah, I've been watching this since it was announced. As a student, I've been using a Surface Pro with the Kensington articulating dock with a 2nd monitor, and it's been an amazing form factor and set up for writing and research. My first Surface Pro was dying, so I bought an SP8, but it was a referb, and after 3 months, I am already getting the blue screen of death, and the camera works intermittently.

It look’s pretty good, I’m just not sure why using a touch screen would be obviously bad. I mean, the pop-up keyboard on my iPad is great and a multi-touch screen has to be better than a conventional touch pad surely, I suppose if the implementation is bad with the missing haptics it probably explains the bad experience. But ultimately, nailing that touch interface on the bottom screen has to be paramount for this form factor, that’s my take anyway.

As a student using Macbook, iPad and Apple Pencil together, Yoga Book 9i is THE laptop that meets all my needs (except for the battery life XD). If the Yoga Book series would update and have stronger CPU with longer battery life in the future, it will definitely be my first choice.
@disadadi8958

Stronger CPU? I'm not 100% certain but it seems like i7-1355U is better than M1 in terms of performance. Of course, the efficiency is not there, but at least you have x86 instead of arm which can be a big deal to some. For programming I'd take Mac any day over windows, though.

No, I didn't see any intel cpu can has a longer battery life then apple chips at the same level. They are still hot and low battery life..... I hope apple can make macbook pro as tough (shock-resistant) as HP elitebook x360 1030 g2(which has touch screen, stylus, privacy sure view...but lack of battery life and Good apple OS ) I have both. I always hate that windows issues. Intel cpu are hot and eat too much battery life. Apple has better balance, and never force you update when you really doing something important.

The price makes sense even though it’ll hurt to buy one. Dual 2.8K OLED displays, the latest Ryzen mobile CPU, a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and a stylus+Bluetooth keyboard-it’s stacked. I’ve been waiting for a device like this for 15+ years ever since I got my first tablet-an HP convertible with a swiveling display. They won’t sell a lot of these, but I think it’ll be popular enough for a second-gen device.

@Yellow Flash Of the Leaf I think Lenovo should make an affordable version of it, maybe 1TB HDD with 256GB SSD and 1080p display, and less powerful CPU. I think they will sell a lot more. The students will buy the affordable version. Designers and content creators will buy the version with the higher specs.

This is probably the best overview/review so far on this unit. At $2100, it's hard to get over the screens only being 60hz and a mobile Intel chip. The software looks buggy and with Lenovo's history of support, I doubt there will be further widgets or optimization.
@penguin272
@penguin272 Жыл бұрын
that might happen, yes. I own both predecesors and would like to see lenovo supporting it better. on the other hand this 9i is for the first time a more nornal one - in line witb all the fodables, just without the folding thing - so it might be that lenovo is going to sell it way better
@michaelcorcoran8768
@michaelcorcoran8768 Жыл бұрын
But the only really specialized customer software you need is when you're using the keyboard on the bottom screen. Otherwise, windows is long been able to handle two separate screens because people do it all the time in a desktop setting. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't spend $2,100 on any laptop but at this point it's mostly just proof of concept. But this makes way more sense to me than like a foldable OLED phone which are getting so much attention. There's definitely two separate conversations here which is do you think is particular product is a worthy investment. Do you think this concept is worthwhile endeavor.

Even the refresh rate wouldn't bother me too much here because this is not going to be a gaming machine. But I don't know I've never been particularly bothered by 60 Hz screens on mobile devices. In fact I found the first time I moved up to a 120 Hz tablet and phone to be incredibly underwhelmed. People had explained that it would be a transformative experience but was definitely not the case for me.

That is cool and appears that it could be a very productive device. With OpenAI tech now being a norm (almost), that split screen allows enough size to do work on side, while the other can get assistant from outside app, like making webpages for example. The larger visuals would definitely make for seeing the details without having to zoom in on one screen laptops. The downsides can be dismissed if used for split screen use in the propped-up setting. This may be a device you could review again for certain uses, especially in html/coding productivity.

The physical keyboard should probably include features like the Logitech devices, being able to be used with multiple devices at one time. It looks like it has low travel and just seems like any old BT keyboard, nothing stands out other than the magnets. My curiosity lies in the durability of the laptop, considering my c940 has display issues for what was an expensive laptop. Low key geeking when it comes to this though, tech was getting so monotone so at least they are shaking it up. Would love to get my hands on this, but with low powered cpu content creation seems out of reach. Did they design any other cases for the laptop? Thank you for your content, I was excitedly waiting on your take on this. 😅

Love the idea of 2 OLED screens. The only thing keeping me from getting one is being a sketcher/painter I would need a pen as good (or nearly as good) as the Apple Pencil 2 or at least as good as the Surface Pen 2. The idea to have a photo to sketch from on the top and the sketch/paint program on the bottom screen. Also, like the large Surface Duo-like 2 screens rather than the fold idea of a continuous OLED Screen.

I purchased this early on and I'm just fascinated by the dual screens. It's fairly fast though it does stutter some. The battery life is decent/good considering it has two screens. But to be honest I think this is perfect for a) people who absolutely need two large screens, b) those who can use it in an office, hotel room, or home office setup. But to be honest I actually found it cumbersome at times. It's just way to big for using both screens on an airplane. And it even seemed kinda weird using it in a coffee shop. And then the price - it's very expensive. So, I ended up going with the Asus Zenbook duo. I can use it in dual screen laptop form whenever it's open and the second screen with the keyboard is a real second screen unlike the 9i when the keyboard is attached. It's actually the perfect size for what I need a second screen for. And I paid less than $700.

I like the OLED screens but would have preffered miniled screens which consume less battery with the same quality. The only problem is the keyboard. The psysical doesn't have baclit illumination and the virtual one is not customizable (you cant change the keys, the layout, the colors,etc...) They should give users a tool to customize the virtual keyboard (choose the key colors , background and layout (azert/qwerty) or even create their own custom buttons (macros) And create a community arround it, where users can share keyboard layouts. Asus and HP come with similar devices next week at CES conference.

No touch screen, no pen support, no 2-in-1 design, no dual screens, no OLED screens, not even a 180 degree hinge. No wonder MacBooks only have 8% laptop market share. Given that you have to carry everything separately anyway, wouldn't it be easier, cheaper and produce the exact same results just to buy a portable second screen? Its less hassle and produces the same functionality. Many are even making these to match specific laptop models (Dell with their XPS line and LG with the gram for example). With this thing, you have to carry and setup the keyboard separately (unless you are content just to use it as a glorified tablet) - with another laptop, you can always just flip it open and get going for when you don't need a second screen.

I use Laptop, mostly when I need to type and need to multitasking. Laptop has keyboard attached and muscle memory to type is the best. So typing is I think will be hell on this kind of device, though I actual has not used it in person. And this is not cheap solution either for dual screen. And adding bluetooth keyboard and one more thing to charge, basically kill the purpose of having laptop in bag for quick multi-tasking.

For the same price, I can buy a 14inch MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro 12.9 inch, which is able to be used as a second display through side car, I really can't justify buying this product

This should be compared to Intel Macs, not Apple Silicon. Or similar specced Windows Laptops. I've just ordered one, so I will return with my hands-on thoughts ❤

Thanks Lenovo to take the ball from Microsoft (surface Neo). I think they need to add a very good handwriting recognition tools in the virtual keyboard ( even better than handwriting recognition in Galaxy Notes ) or make some kind of connection that you can write on your galaxy note and it is transfer to your laptop real time via Bluetooth! I Think they also need to increase the brightness, specially for next gene with 14th gen intel which is more efficient! There is no excuse to have only 400nit or 370nit in practice! I hope lenovo listen that! I would really looking for that!

Will Apple copycat lol Very cool.laptop. will get allot of Stares. Also for fast performance when testing against mac laptop when opening websites etc... you should have removed all bloatware, empty browser cache, temp files etc...before testing against mac opening website. After doing that watch website opening and performance go blazing fast.

When you don't have space you barely use the second screen. Especially with keyboard on it. And if you have the space to use the two screens you might as well just have a usb monitor. Looks like a big LG V60 Dual Screen.

This looks cool, but then I step back and have to ask why I would do this (carry a dual screen laptop, plus the keyboard and mouse) versus carrying a normal laptop and a second monitor. I still irrationally love this thing, but it seems not very practical.
