@mwedzi Thank you. I'm glad you found them helpful. Actually my dad did our hair too! There were 4 of us, so every Sunday my mum did two of us and my dad did the other two. Looking back that was actually a really cool thing. :)

This is such a wonderful video!! My mum still does my hair when I am on vacations, and she uses the 'old method' omg! U can't scream when it hurts! Cos if you do, she will say "one more scream and I am done with ur hair!" Thanks for this video! Surely gonna teach her this method. Hahaha

My mom used to pull on my curls so hard and I hated getting my hair done, so I started doing my own hair around 8 or 9. Thank God for I actually knew what I was doing though XD

Best video I've seen! Thanks my sister called me today and asked how to detangle my nieces hair. I explained it to her, using finger detangling first then wide tooth comb. This video will help :)

@solzica82 Thank you! I'm VERY low maintenance with their hair at that age. I only shampoo hair as needed, usually a couple of times a week. I use a small amount of 'baby wash' (currently California Baby body and hair wash). I rinse and comb while it's wet. I used to use a wide tooth comb, but now I use a tangle teaser. I blot it with a towel and then add a small amount of oil - usually coconut or olive oil and that's it. I've requests about baby routines so I'll do a video on it :).

@TheKjizzle09 Sorry it's taken a while to get back to. Thank you so much!! I'd use cute braid styles to transition, and gradually cut a 1/2" per month, ease them in slowly. We use Berts Bees Baby Shampoo & Curls Coconut Sublime Conditioner (love the smell of that one).I use Suave Naturals tropical coconut conditioner that as an inexpensive rinse-out detangler. I'm not loyal to these products though. I find that leave in products make the most difference. I hope this helps! :)

@2BHerself73 Thank you!! You can purchase the small bottles of Giovanni Direct Leave in Conditioner from Wal-Mart in their natural section, but I get an amazing deal on 1 liter bottles from a website called Massage Warehouse. they won't let me post the link. You can go to their site and do a search for Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner and pick the size you want or cut and paste this in google: Massage warehouse Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner. Hope this helps. Happy New Year! x

@mailily Thank you! That's so funny because I used to feel exactly the same way about my hair, before I learnt how to care for it properly. I didn't believe there was anyone out there who had tougher hair than mine (until I had my oldest! lol). Now, so long as I stick to my methods (especially the detangling and washing methods), our hair, for the most part, stays tangle free. I hope they give it a try and see the difference for themselves. Thanks for watching! :)

@naturallocksdvm Isn't it great when you find a system that works for you?! Mine are extremely tender headed too. When they were younger I couldn't touch their hair unless they were asleep!. I had to come up with a system or have them walk around looking crazy lol. I used to detangle after washing, but would always end up with a tangled mess. It's so important to find a system that works for your child. As a kid I dreaded getting my hair done, but mine love it! Thanks watching and commenting!

@ltcartwright1976 Lol! I know exactly what you mean! We had long hair too despite my parents not applying the "natural hair techniques" we have today. I think it was because of consistency, low manipulation and always having our hair in protective styles. Thanks for watching :).

@nikkichristinar Hi! Yes, I use a regular rinse out conditioner when I do a prewash detangle, because I wash it out shortly after. I use a leave in conditioner when styling the hair to detangle and/or add moisture, because I know it will be left in the hair for a while. Thanks for watching! :):)

@PalaisCristalLLC That's so true. I started this channel because I had friends who really didn't know what else to do and were considering perming their children's hair. Since sharing this technique they’ve told me that their hair sessions are now enjoyable, this makes me so happy! :

Hi, I straighten their hair using the technique I show in video number ♥ 37 ♥ - Stretching Natural Hair Without Heat . They only wear straight styles on the weekend and maybe the odd Friday, because I don't have time to maintain it during the week either. :)

Love watching your videos your comic strips are so funny and your parenting skills and patients are fantastic, really inspirational. This video reminds me a lot of my childhood only with Jamaican mothers they're a lot more militant it would appear compared to African mothers because ours always added the chopping you in the head very hard with the comb when we fidgeted or moved... period! Practically every child of a Jamaican mother knows about the "chopping you in the head", that hard unexpected blow followed by the wringing of your neck when your mum twists your head to an throw whilst holding your hair very tightly. If only Jamaican mothers had your patients back then and had learnt the art of distraction via crayons an paper. Anyway at least our generation knows better now or at least I pray they do.

We like your video as well, but for the mothers who have daughters that just won't sit for long-you should try the Take Down Remover Cream. It will hasten the detangling process while softening the hair extremely. Its hard for a mother to hear her precious daughter cry in pain-even if its really because they just don't want to sit. Keep up the great work.

This is SO true. We call it "clearing out" hair where I'm from. I know the pain of these "detangling" sessions with mummy! And you'd better not put your hand near your head or make noise. She'd say "you too nasty! you don't like your hair combed!" All I remember is I hated hair "fixing" days...it just hurt real bad!!! LOL....the memories! Funny thing was with all that brutality, my sisters and I had relatively long hair! Go figure!

What beautiful girls...all three of you and how nice to hear an English accent! Watched many Afro-hair detangling vids and am amazed at the time and effort ladies of African heritage put into caring for their hair. My eldest daughter has below bottom length auburn hair and I thought I had my work cut out washing/detangling/drying it until I watched your vids. But what a beautiful result you get!

Great video! People need to understand the importance of detangling and moisturizing. The funny thing is, I've shown this video to three separate people who've each said (in their own way) that your daughter's hair is not "real" 4b or 4c textured hair because it's not as dry, tight, tangly as the 4b/4c they've experienced or seen. I've tried to explain that that's due to the way you take care of it, but they don't believe me. Very interesting. Anyway, great vid!

I find that pre-pooing with oil +/- conditioner helps alot, I then wash and detangle clean hair. I finger detangle 1st, then use the jilbere-like comb or the double row comb and follow up if needed with the goody ouchless flex brush that you showed in your video. Your daugher is so NOT tender headed like mine...lucky you.
