I just bought my didgeridoo last week and I’m super excited to learn. I’ve never played an instrument before, but it’s never to late to learn right? When I got it home I was expecting this beautiful sound to come out when I first blew on it and all I got was a pitter putter “puff” haha the air didn’t even make it to the other end 😩 right then I got total respect to all the didgeridoo players out there who make it looks so beautiful and effortless. I decided I was going to master it, I WILL learn! I spent the entire weekend looking up youtube videos with instructions, and there were lots, but yours helped me tremendously, and I’m Excited to follow you. I got my drone, only one note and a only a single breath, I’m only there so far but practice makes perfect right? You play it beautifully Didge mama ❤️ I’m Excited to start this new journey.

Greetings from South Africa and thank you for your tutorial. I am a crazy 72 year young man who bought a didge last Saturday on an auction and will learn to play. I searched the web and you tube for someone who can explain simply you hit the nail on the head, plus you are saying practice for a week. My lips have never had so much exercise😀 Thanks again for your time and look forward to part 2 regards Quinten

Lip flapping=Raspberry or motorboat! LOL. You were absolutely right about not playing from the side of your mouth. I couldn't get the pulsing drone sound playing from the side of my mouth. Tonight I said: "I'm going to take Didge Momma's advice and play fron the front of my mouth." I got the perfect droning pulse on a $3 piece of PVC pipe and all I could do was laugh for about 5 minutes when I realized I was doing it wrong the whole time! Love ya Didge Mama!

Your awesome mama ! I’ve been following a few other teachers. But your instructions are simplified clear and very understandable, I started from the side of my lips as I had more success in drone cb bird calls. But’ I couldn’t make the voice the toot’s. I’ve been following you the past few weeks I’m so grateful in your instruction. I have now beeswax my dodge to 28mm. I’m starting again from the front. Tho my drone is not yet apparent. I tried some voicing ✅ CB✅ I believe once I get the drone happening again, like you say at the end of your videos you will be a good didge player. I do this for the soul the harmonica use to bring this to me. But I really feel the inner soul buzzing inside when I’m droning. Love and light to you Mama D mean AZ buzz Chur Te

Thank you my friend!!! And a tiny bit on the side is okay, just make sure the lip edges are not covered by the mouthpiece. And I understand that the drone on the side is nicer now, but if you can do it well on the front, it will benefit so much the coming techniques. Good luck and if you keep struggling, let me know, I will give you some more pointers. Have fun and good luck!!!❤️☀️🎶

I’m finding that my mouth is open more to make a drone when I cheek in On air is coming out. So I’m practicing your lip drills will this increase the strength of my lips. Any way I’m trying this, I do go to the side (nownthen)to see if it’s the size of the new mouth piece. As it feels a bit different. But thanks again Mama D

This is marvelous, I started with a 2 evening class from Sky Guasco, who played keyboard and Didge with the band Sol Seed from Oregon when they came to play in Billings, Montana. Got a PVC didge as part of the mini class. As I am a carver I decided to make my own didge from Diamond Willow, my favorite carving wood in spite of the unsuitability of it. The reason it isn't ideal is that the diamond shapes invert towards the center so when split and hollowed you wind up with about 3 dozen three dimensional puzzle pieces that have to be custom made and fitted to seal it up. Took me about a year of part time working to finish it, but as I said I love working with Diamond Willow. That being said, my focus was more on making, but continued to practice as well with my PVC, but missed out on most of the basics of playing. Have especially struggled with circular breathing, I keep thinking I am doing it and people in Didgeridoo Learning Community have been helpful, including sending me a link to your CB tutorial. After seeing it I am now starting with #1 and going to view all of them to give me the basics. Once I work my way through all of them, probably multiple times, I plan to reach out to you for lessons to tie it all together and tweak what I have learned. Thank you very much for putting your experience and excellent teaching out there for us!

I've been playing a little for about 18 months, watching lots of different teachers, and found that useful, so I'll follow you. My biggest frustration is can't seem to hit any high notes and I'm not sure how to improve this component. I still have a gap in my circular breathing unless I quicken it up with a bounce breath. Maybe you might cover these points in future tutorials. Thanks. Peter, Australia.

Hello Lies, I just started before, on the side of the mouth. Was just getting a better drone and managed the circular breathing. After this I found your clear lesson 1, so now I'm trying to get the same sound from the middle. The same hole seems bigger now, also the didge is very close to my nose now, but more difficult to get the right sound and do the cb. Is it a matter of practice you think, or I do something wrong? I'm tended to go back to the side but I like to follow your nice and clear tutorials. And I'd prefer the middle position. Thanks for putting the videos up and for your help❤

Hi dear Marise, Thank you so much for your clear and important question. 👍 Two things, yes the mouthpiece might be too big for front playing. It should be around 2.8 - 3 cm. And the mouthpiece could be a bit bulky, so your nose is in the way. So if it is too big, I made a video on making a beeswax mouthpiece, that can be helpful. And if it is too bulky, maybe you can build it up a bit, so it is easy to play. You can always make a little video and send it to my 📧didgemama@gmail.com so I can have a look at it and give you some advice. ✅ Also we can look at it together in a free 15min online lesson. 🎶❤️☀️

What's your advice on the optimal (wax) mouthpiece diameter? Should it be completly round or kind of oval?

Hi there, I thought I answered you, but I guess I didn’t. So for me it is 2.8cm in diameter. And a tiny bit oval. But it took me a year of trying to figure it out. But the2.8cm is a good start. 👍😀

@@DidgeMama Hello and thank you so much for your tutorials. I apologize for asking again, as 2.8 cm seems to be very small since most didge players/sites talk about 3.5 to 4.0 cm and I see some players with their whole mouth in the didge? Is yours really 2.8 centimeters? I am wondering if I should make my didge that small to try out? Shall I ? Thank you again.
