Very helpful and enjoyable. Though I've practised a little over 16 mths I didn't feel I was progressing well, but playing along with you I realize that my tongue cheeks throat and diaphragm had all benefited from the practice. I find your pedagogy is allowing me to play sounds quite easily that I didn't know I was capable of. It's great to learn from various players but I think Mama might be moving to the top of my most valued instructor list. Very glad to have stumbled across your channel.

In the UK, rolling the 'R' was more commonplace when I was a child and started dying out about that time. English is basically old German, and rolling the 'R' is or was commonly spoken. I still roll when speaking as I was taught and my family are of latino origin. The Cubans do a lot of rolling the 'R'. Great video 👍 ❤

@@DidgeMama I actually just returned from doing that, although it's 1.3m in length. Now I have to learn to get a proper seal around my mouth - no matter what I lose it around the corners. I think I will be needing the beeswax. Also keeping the lips vibrating while my mouth is against the tube is surprisingly challenging. Should I need a very firm pressure, or a lighter contact? Thank you very much for the encouragement, I will stick with it 😊

Very entertaining and informative video! I was aware of how one uses their tongue to create certain tonalities, but your video clearly demonstrates this technique. For want of a better term, the German "growling 'R' " sounds seems to fit in quite well. As an aside, I personally have difficulty prouncing the "R" sound in English, as it sounds like the letter "Ah". Lol. Pronouncing the Russian word "Здравствуйте" (zdravstvuyte) - "Hello" was a complete tongue-twister for me as well . Obviously a good exercise for utilising this tongue technique! Thanks ever so much for creating and posting this remarkable video! Cheers! 🍻

Far in is it like the tip of your tongue touches the bottom of your mouth. You know where the tongue is connected to the mouth? Thank you very much Lies, your help is priceless 💜

Hi there dear Yeti, Thank you and thanks for your question! The sides of my tongue touches the sides of my pallet and top molars but the middle tongue doesn’t touch but is very close to it. In front of your mouth the tongue doesn’t touch your front teeth, but again super close to doing so. And to the back as far as you can pull in into your throat. I hope this is clear. ❤️🎶☀️

thanks so much for these videos. I've been playing a homemade PVC pipe didge for a couple of months and am going to work through them. Very helpful! I followed this one up to the R bit. Are you actually vocalizing the R sound or is it just the toungue movement? Love the sound it makes but can't get anywhere near it atm. I found the bit about harmonics interesting. I can hear them when playing the didge, but my husband can't...
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama Жыл бұрын
My pleasure, I’m not vocalizing so it’s just a tongue move. And yes, harmonics not everybody hears them. You have to sort of train your ears to hear them, so it’s very possible you’re doing it but your husband just hasn’t got trained ears. Keep going and enjoy. Sending love and light ☀️🎶❤️

I see astral travel as something normal that everyone does when they sleep. I would imagine that it would be great for one person to play for 20 or 30 minutes while other people lucid dreams and travels with their minds eye and spirit.

I received my first didge a couple days ago and I had NO idea what was involved in play. I am a sound practitioner and will be leading sound meditations by June. Were you doing all those practices in one breath? I'm struggling to get a consistent breath. Will this come with practice and strengthening the core/diaphragm? I guess what I'm asking is, do I need to be focusing on circular breathing before following these tutorials? maybe I just need to see about lessons🤣

Hi dear Heather, so wonderful you got your first didge! Yes these exercises you start without Circulair Breathing, these tutorials are set up to help you get circular breathing. So practice from number 1 and then go to the second video and at one point you will come to the video of cb. Good luck and have fun!❤️🎶☀️

Hi! I found you page after search so much here and It's wonderful. I want to know, how do you do the R sound behind the tongue? Like gargle?
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama Жыл бұрын
Hi Sonia, I’m glad you found my tutorials. The R in the back of the throat, you have to put the tongue in the position where you say NG. And then push air through it. Good luck!!!

Hi dear Mark, Your dizziness comes from breathing too much. Try not to breath to your chest, only belly out as in-breath. Good luck and have fun. ❤️☀️🎶

I just found your videos! I have been trying to learn this for like 3 years to no avail. :-( I am just not getting the circular breathing thing. I can get sound. It is the breathing that is the problem. My didgeridoo is just a cheap like pvc material but I can get a sound on it. I can't seem to do this breathing thing though.

Hi DM, Thanks for sharing your knowledge. When you are doing the tik a ta tik a ta tik a ta where are you breathing in? Probably to late but can you put your long fringe up. When you turn and play your hair covers your throat. Thanks again

Now I need to practice 😁 but I have a question, does a larger diameter mouthpiece make it easier to vocalize on the didgeridoo ✌
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama 4 жыл бұрын
Raymond Czapiga maybe, is possible. But the nice thing is if you incorporate your jaw dropping during vocalizations, you don’t need a bigger mouthpiece.

I find getting a decent drone sound a bit tricky. I can get a deep low sound and vary the sound a bit, but run out of breath. I have watched your first three videos and keep trying different things, although I think really I am stuck on lesson one. Love your lessons, but not sure I am getting it right!! Will keep going, but I think it is going to take me a long time.

Daft question, but when I'm playing through the didge, should be mouth be open or closed? I seem to be getting much better sounds just blowing through pursed, vibrating lips but with my front teeth closed. Plus, when I move my tongue, it sounds right, and I can control the note like you do. But I assumed - maybe wrongly! - that I should have my mouth open when blowing? Any ideas? Thank you!
@DidgeMama

Not sure if I understood correctly, but when I play my molars are almost together. But every shape of lips and face is different, so if it sounds good it should be good. You can always send me a sound file or video of your playing (didgemama@gmail.com) and then I can tell you if what you are doing is correct. Thanks for your question. ❤️☀️🎶
