Just a quick tip for people still trying to get the hesi in their bag: doing hesi's off of basic dribble drives will usually not be that effective unless you have already established yourself as a killer shooter. Now, if you do a hesi off a separation move like a crossover or a step back, you're going to have a defender trying to close the gap quickly and recover. If you hesi, then that's when they're really going to get jump
@trithai161 Жыл бұрын
So if defender keep his spot, hesi will not be effective, right ?
@danbrown1344 Жыл бұрын
@@trithai161 If the defender is already in good position and doesn't shift, then the hesi shouldn't be effective.

I’m 47 and played college ball at Harding University, and it’s 100% a carry on all these hesi’s. It’s so prevalent in the modern era and I don’t really have a problem with it bc by in large it’s pretty much all officiated the same way and it’s just not called , it’s just been adapted and morphed into what is acceptable. My question is why was there a change in mindset or hoops culture etc.. that refereeing and coaching became ok with it ?

Mika cooley usually in pick up guys call carry. Very ignorant and hating cause they hate when you pass them. In a game should be fine but then again depends on the ref and your reputation as a player. It sucks but all of these factors do play a role.
@chuckgotnext1187 жыл бұрын
When you initiate the hesi, keep the ball hand on the side or top of the ball, don't let the ball hand go under, or close to getting under the ball.
@vannaraphoeuk21967 жыл бұрын
M Flemming i get called for double when i play street ball because carrying doesn’t really exist in streetball. they call it because it looks like i picked it up to shoot but i really didn’t
@ManOfWar27 жыл бұрын
Vannara Phoeuk yeah I feel you sometimes it's a pride thing. They say to themselves "you can't make that move, so it has to be some sort of violation." That is why I am strictly sticking to organized leagues and playing less pick up.

@theogpadilla99326 жыл бұрын
How do you counter the hesi?
@nybirdman6 жыл бұрын
This is just a drill. It’s ok to bit on the hesi with one hand up. The key is to not bite with your feet by trying to closeout prematurely. Meaning, keep your feet where they are, if your hand goes up and it’s a hesi, drop your hand and you’re back in the proper defensive positioning. The whole idea of this drill is to make sure you don’t commit with your feet too early and get blown by. He’s just using the hands on the hips as an example because if you don’t commit too early with your hands, you wont with your feet by default. At least that’s what i think he’s doing because I’ve never seen someone try to block a shot by jumping with their hands down.
