The reason he was able to only put $7 on his tax returns is because he didn't owe the IRS any money, they already had it. When most people do their taxes they can't wait to get a tax return check (money they overpaid and or tax credits). What some don't know is you can let the IRS keep your tax return and use it to pay next year's taxes. Trump did that for several years in a row. He technically pre-paid his taxes. That means he didn't need to put anything on his tax returns, because he didn't owe the IRS any money. They technically owed him. The New York Times then lied to millions of Americans about it in the first paragraph of their article, but towards the bottom (where people don't read) they admit this fact.
