Although the GB2 is best on small gold, it is a nightmare to ground balance when the dirt gets hot. The AT Gold is waterproof and is much easier to auto ground balance by just pushing a button and pumping the coil and you'll spend more time detecting and less time ground balancing compared to the GB2. When it rains I don't have to go home which is a real plus.

I love my Gold Bug 2. So far this year I found a few nice little nuggets. I have found ones the size of 1cm to ones as small as about 2mm in highly mineralized placer tailings. Depth is great, I run 7-8 on sensitivity and ground balance often. Once you know the sounds of things it gets really easy to tell what is likely gold and what isn't. My friends Gold bug pro can be a little confusing with its visual readout. I trust my ears more than a display.

what’s the deepest gold you have found with it

Hello DetectorComparisons! Having had experience with the Vista Gold and owning one, you should really forgo the 11" DD coil. It's more of a deep cache, relic coil. I've never been happy with it on individual deep targets (such as) coins (and) small targets like you were demonstrating and it is a (BEAR) to try to pinpoint with. The 8x5.5" coil is 'spot on' as far as pinpointing goes and actually seems to go just as deep and is more sensitive on smaller targets than the larger coil. When I got mine, mine came with both coils. I've since put the 11" coil in my closet and from here on out, always used the little one instead and (really) like it's speed and pinpoint accuracy (as well as) depth. Hope this helps your success rate and maybe give the Vista Gold it's due. Ps; the Vista Gold feels very light, using the 8" DD coil compared to the bigger coil too! Good Luck!

Nice video but what would you recommend to buy, i watched many videos and now I don’t know what to buy, but for all the comments I’ll go for the GB2 what do you think?

The Fischer I used years ago could pick up that size grain 8" deep with a 4" head. The larger heads loose depth but cover more ground per swipe.

I would have like to see this test performed with the Gold Bug Pro with the small head, used specifically for finding gold, instead of the larger relic heads (used to find coins and jewelry). Good video.

I've been using my AT Gold for about 5 years now and I'm still blown away on what it can detect in very highly mineralized areas.
@miah58063 жыл бұрын
hello good sir @Brandon Deft, its my first time to engage on this gold detecting stuff, i would just like to ask if buying garrett at gold is worth it? like, can it really detect tiny gold nuggets on wild rivers? since you have experience its service, i would like to ask feedback or first-hand observations from you... I would really appreciate it if you reply. thank you

I realize this is a very old video - but I'm curious if the 4 steel pins that are usually used to hold the halves of the Riker mount together were removed for the tests (?)
@DetectorComparisons Жыл бұрын
Yes they were removed

What was the coil size that you used for the GB2? I also understand the factor of soil actually in contact with the target along with moisture plays a LARGE part in how conductive it may be with the machine. What's your thoughts?
@DetectorComparisons10 жыл бұрын
Targets that have been in the ground will sound better on all machines. The large size coil was used with the GB2 and it still heard the 1 grain nugget well.

Hello !! ! May i ask You some advise of Gold Bug 2 settings? Is it possible to use Gold Bug-2 to search for small gold jewelry ithems,rings ? I understand that Gold Bug-2 primary is designed to search for gold nuggets, but if there is only Gold Bug 2 detector and no other option at the moment / Thank You and Best regards, Sergei.
@DetectorComparisons4 жыл бұрын
GBII will work well on dry sand for small gold jewelry but don't take it near wet salt water sand. Setting are very simple on the GBII most importantly make sure you are ground balanced.

I'm looking to buy my first metal detector. I'm considering the Fisher Gold Bug 2 or Fisher F75, which is almost $150 more and my absolute upper spending limit. In your opinion is it worth the extra money for the F75?
@DetectorComparisons10 жыл бұрын
The GB 2 is designed for smaller gold. the F75 is not as good on small gold but it is a much better all around machine. It all depends on what type of hunting you do....

Hello people Needs some help please Is the Gold Bug II is also GREAT to find gold jewelry and gold coins or just use for gold nuggets I'm looking a detector for gold jewelry and gold coins can you please advise Thank you for your time Eden
@DetectorComparisons9 жыл бұрын
+Hilla Tamir The Gold Bug II is great for real small gold jewelry and gold nuggets. If you are looking for gold rings and gold coins, any of the high frequency detectors will work for you on dry sand and dirt. Your best bet is to contact a dealer that knows about detectors and they can advise you based on you hunting conditions. Google any of the following names Colonial Detectors, Gold Digger Metal Detectors, Treasure Mountain Metal Detectors and there are many others to choose from; any of which can help you make a decision.

This isn't a very fair test on any gold machine. Try putting the gold into the ground and cover it. I've never been propecting in plastic. Most AT gold detectors Ive used give a great signal on even flake gold at 6 inches. You must be doing something wrong.
