@@lisacallaway4421 no doubt it's a real good machine. The ground is finally Frozen up here so tomorrow I'm going into the water about chest deep with the D2. A pound of this place with the Equinox 800 and Excalibur so it should be interesting to see what kicks out tomorrow

Yeah some great target comparisons here thanks 🙏🏻 and, (as a D2 user), it's cool to see the Spanish copper example around 12 mins in. It's been a long road for me with the D2 - (I really loved my Deus 1 and struggled with the transition). But now I'm really loving it, and the performance (in UK / Old pasture), is truly thrilling!. A few of my fields are fairly uncluttered - so I try and go for Deep HC with a Low Reactivity, (1.5) and Max out the Sensitivity at 99. Like you I'm pulling small silvers at 9 or 10" - so it's happy days hey?... Love to know your settings if you have them? and yeah, gereat video thanks... All best from Manchester, England, Bobby. 🐁

Loved it when I was out in Colchester, great place to hunt! I used deep High conductor with the reactivity at 2, audio response 5 and sensitivity 95. Amazing how fast the D2 is naturally so running it at a reactivity of 2 does very well for me in trash areas
@UkuleleBobbyKemp
@UkuleleBobbyKemp Ай бұрын
@@cpennington4368 Thanks for reply, and yeah totally agree on D2 Reactivity. I have a naturally slow swing, so I'm ok at 1.5, but sense R1 might be pushing my luck a little. I'm always looking for a little extra depth but, if there's a confusing target, then I'll sometimes ramp up the Reactivity 'on the fly' but it kinda feels unnecessary to do this... Fantastic machine!! 🙏🏻

Yes I have the 5x8” and I don’t like it at all. It doesn’t not get the same depth as the 9” coil, at least not in our mineral rich soil. I used the 5x8” 3 times and it is now been retired lol.

in my judgement Jimmy is running his Manta Ray tooooo hot!!! in an area with that many ancillary targets!!(mostly bad targets) he would be well advised to move to ALL TERRAIN FAST in a park like that and knock the SENS to 23 max!all terrain FAST runs with a 4 recovery speed and i routinely hit 8-10 silver and coppers in pounded areas that are totally trashed out!! he did not pick up that deep foreign copper simply because his coil was toooo hot and there was so much adjacent crap there in Prospect....which "blanked" out that large clear target that the D2 slammed
@jimzilladetecting
@jimzilladetecting Ай бұрын
Dave I don’t think I was too hot as my first target was a 10” silver dime. I used the fast program for a bit and it works pretty good but it did not come through as I tried it here. I had my iron volume at 0 and I think this target had a lot of iron around it because my threshold went to nothing while over this target indicating iron. I know what you mean though with the sens too high as it creates sort of an effect like high beams in fog. I offset the high sens by increasing my recovery speed to 6. I find this works incredible without sacrificing depth.

Holding an accurate vdi on deep coins is the first thing that I noticed when I first started hunting with my D2. If you back off the target with a wiggle of the coil, a lot of the junk targets will start to break up as you get to the edge of your coil.

Great Vid! I own both machines w/9” coils. For sure on land the D2 is king. As for shallow ocean hunting the Manty is deadly with that M9 coil and NASA TOMS set up. I’ve similarly compared both on land in heavy iron, cellar holes and it’s not even close, D2 smokes…

@jimzilladetecting
@jimzilladetecting Ай бұрын
Hey Gary actually I tried that and All terrain fast. The AT high conductor in my opinion does not sound as good on deep targets as AT general. I keep my machine juiced up with 27-31 sens and deep targets really come through. My only guess with this particular target is that my iron volume was at 0 (which I forgot about changing from my previous hunt). If this target had a lot of iron around it would null out with a setting of 0. Shortly after this target I dug a shield nickel at 12”, so the machine was working well. This particular area has targets every few inches and iron bottle caps are all over the place.

I’ve had the manticore over 2 years now and I have to say that I think the D2 is a notch above. I love the manticore for its ease of use and since I’ve been using Minelab machines for almost 20 years, it came easy for me to learn the Manticore. The D2 I think once you learn it, is a complete machine that thrives in iron and target ID. I compare it to the CTX when dealing with target ID because the CTX was spot on in its day, it just couldn’t separate like the D2 and Manticore can. I would rate the Manticore a 97 out of 100, and the D2 100/100. I am definitely going to be ordering the machine asap and keeping the Manticore as my backup.

Carter is right they are both good in their own way. A lot comes down to the user as well as we have both been detecting over 40 years. The D2 is definitely a notch above the Manticore. Carter and I have prob 100 hours of side by side comparisons with the two machines and I think the D2 has the overall edge.
