Theory:the reason Coralines mum new the button key was the key for that door is because she had already been the the other world which is why she know the button key leads to that world and is so dismissive when Coraline wants to open the door. I also think the only reason they got that house is because they had some financial issues and also explains why they’re so busy with work and at the end of the film she knows what’s happened but for Coralines safety she pretends she has no clue about what happened!

Two things I’ve noticed from the movie is that Wybie helped Coraline throw the Other Mother’s hand into the well, but how did he know that she needed help? Did the cat warn him? Or was he just at her house by coincidence? Another is that at the very ending of the movie the cat disappeared behind the sign for the house, which shows that the Other World is still there and that the Other Mother isn’t dead. Or it could prove that the cat is the mastermind behind it all

I’ve got a theory. Wybie’s grandma is the other mother’s daughter, and here’s why: She is the only adult that knows about the other mother. She doesn’t let children go over there because of this. She let Coraline go over there because she knew Coraline could defeat her mother. It makes sense because she went to the party at the end of the movie because she knew Coraline had escaped her mother. It would explain why she is the owner of the Pink Palace.

In the version I read,it was a music box and in the end the New Mother traps the girls in the box as the dancing characters

Interesting how both of Coraline’s mothers tried to keep her from the other world. Her real mother tried to keep her from the Other Mother’s World via a button (the button key)

I actually have a Coraline door in the corner of my room and I ended up going into it one time, I wish I had some sort of an interesting story but I just led to a bricked dead end, there were mouse droppings everywhere and it stunk up to high heavens it was also really dirty. No hidden treasure or other world but exploring was fun
