I would like to thank the parish and this wonderful choir for posting this mass. My Mom had a massive stroke a few years ago and passed away two nights ago. Every night for the last few visits I played this in it's entirety for her as she withered away dying. My Mom was one of the beautiful voices in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian church choir in Winnipeg for many, many years. This mass gave her some solace. A couple of days before she went with God, she actually was able to clasp her withered hands in prayer as she gazed upwards. I had nothing better to give her in these final days and hours. Just over two hours before she passed she listened to this mass for the final time. She really recognized much of this mass and the hymns which she had sung thousands of times. Again, thank you. May God Bless.

O Lord, receive our supplications at this very hour. Direct our lives in the way of Your commandments. Sanctify our souls, purify our bodies, set our minds aright, cleanse our thoughts, deliver us from all affliction, wrath, danger and need. I don't know this version of Jedinorodnyj but it's really pretty and touching. I grew up with Kievan / Bakhmetev obikhod but I absolutely adore, adore, ADORE Galician-Pochaev chant which I first heard in Toronto Eparchy, and the Orthodox cathedral on Bathurst is gradually introducing more of it. I've also heard the gifted Galadza brothers conducting it. There is a lyrical austerity to it that I find extremely beautiful. I wish I had a four-voice partition of the samohlasen and troparij-kondakij but I can't find one on line. Alas. Perhaps in future. Or perhaps St George would like to post their scores on their web page... ??? It would give somebody something interesting to do and many happy hours of useful activity. The arrangements featured here are truly ideal and within a range that most singers can handle comfortably. The intervals are really warm.
