3rd April 2021, I recorded this 59 minute DJ mix of techno and electro that was made in Detroit in the 1990s. Shockwave, Clone and Underground Resistance released the aquatic electro of Drexciya.
There are also hard techno and dark electro tracks from the Motor City labels Underground Resistance, Metroplex and even some Daniel Bell on Accelerate all in the mix. Some effects are provided by a Boss SE70 running through the Vestax PMC-275 mixer. The decks are of course, the legendary Technics SL-1210s from the Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Osaka, Japan (now Panasonic Corporation). Recorded in London.

New techno musik in all its genres is mind blowing but it will never be something new.

Good to see the legend PVC 275 Vestax, in my humble opinion the best cross fader ever made. Using volume input slider to mix when you have a awesome crossfader, its called that for a reason. The transitions and manipulation of sound stage with the crossfader is out of this world, give it a try one day.

I find it a bit loose and slippy - it needs extra effort to make it sit halfway during use. However, I never thought that it may be special sounding, so I’ll give it a go!

@@deeman3000 it's all sound leveling, when right magic happens lol. When right you can then move in coming sounds around even when you go past 50/50 it doesn't become the dominant track than it's easy to do transitions. I'll share with you my sound set up with the vestax 275. Trim-6 Hi-9 Mids-3 Lo-8 Volume in put level-6 Monitor level-9 Adjustments made using only trim and low. Just a different perspective on how to unleash the potential of mixer. Have fun experiment, there's plenty to discover.

For anyone mixing vinyl I would say… KEEP THE LEVELS OUT OF THE RED. Dj's are terrible at this! I was too when I started. We didn't have youtube around to learn this stuff. The tracks from Detroit and Chicago typically have some distortion in them from the mixing desk or effects which was done intentionally - it’s raw and hard already. It’s not this pristine digital stuff you download today that are usually prepared with a more standard eq range. Set gain (trim) level when you put a new record on and set gain level to 0 because records are all going to come in at different levels. You don't want the eq for the bass set to normal (12 o’clock) on both tracks at the same time. Bass frequencies have a lot of energy and if you are already +6 db and bring another record in at +6 db you will have a gain of maybe another +3 db at the master out which pushes it up to +9 db. The mixer is designed with proper headroom to send a signal out the master at 0, not in the red. As far as the mix, of the bass is loud on both the tracks they will compete for space and the speakers won’t be able to produce the sound anyway. The sound will suffer and you can even blow speakers. If you know that a record is pressed with a weaker sound or with heavy bass use the eq to get the tracks closer or nudge the channel fader up a bit into the yellow.

Thanks for the tip. I have news for you - I added a load more tape saturation and distortion with vst plugins during the export to video! I was aiming for that distorted sound of a nightclub PA system or mixtape on a boom box. An attempt to make it harder and rawer! However, next time I’ll try keeping out of the reds and see how it sounds.

Yes, but he needs to improve a lot! Selection is ok, levels are too high and almost no propper beatmaching and no adaquate use of EQs between transitions. Select your songs that are not too far away from each others tempo and take your time, matching. Make use of your EQ when bringing in the next track (for example: kill its low eq first, then adjust while fading low eq of the others - this is only one example of many) Also select more carefully entry points and transition points.Train this more and you will be great!! Keep going 😄👍

You mix pretty dirty but you are already learning it, the Wawejumper from UR was the best track, I've been playing it for more than 25 years, best electrotrack ever. you can see that you are using the crossfader too hard and the mixer is running along, take care of your system, you are not a lap top dj that is the most important thing.
