APPLICATION QUESTIONS: 1. In 1 John, John specifies many truths that his readers “know” and how they can be confident that they “know” these things (on our count, you can find at least 10). After identifying these truths in the text, ask yourself: are you confident that you “know” those same things? Why or why not? 2. In 1 John: notice how John understands what love is. What does he say about it? How does John’s understanding of love challenge what your culture has told you about love? How does it challenge what you feel about love? 3. 2 and 3 John command believers to separate themselves from false teachers and to show hospitality to teachers of the truth. Can you think of any false teachings/false teachers you need to distance yourself from? This month, what could you do practically to show hospitality to people faithfully preaching the gospel? That's great! Almost there! We don't yet have a video for Revelation, as we are currently working on it. But we do have all four gospels and Acts for your next endeavor. Blessings as you continue through the Word!

I believe John was dealing with the Gnostics of his day, and there are many today that claim they do not sin, such as the LGBTQ+ community believing they were born that way, and they are not committing sin but living as God made them. That is walking in darkness and the very definition given in scripture of a reprobate mind in Romans 1:26-32, they have a whole month of celebrating the pride of their sinful lifestyle. I am not of the belief that it is only them that do this, that was an example of not believing they are in sin. If someone doesn't think he is a sinner, how can he confess he is a sinner and be cleansed from all unrighteousness? People that commit sin of all kinds can and do believe they have not sinned but are living according to the flesh, we all should see ourselves as crucified with Christ, and raised to newness of life. I really like your videos.

A softened heart before God is so important, as it opens us up to hear from the Holy Spirit, respond to His conviction with repentance, and by His grace receive forgiveness. Unfortunately, when we listen to a society that champions sin (like Romans 1:32), our hearts can become calloused and reject the conviction that the Holy Spirit brings. While we can lament a culture that seems to follow the path of Romans 1, we can also take comfort in the fact that such societies have existed throughout history, and God has broken through to bring transformation. I believe that same thing can happen again. Thank you so much for your encouragement! Blessings to you Eugene-Holley!
