1 killed when flight hits extreme turbulence

A Singapore Airlines flight traveling from London encountered severe turbulence as it was approaching Thailand. A 73-year-old British man died of a possible heart attack and dozens of other passengers were injured. Kris Van Cleave reports.

Not true. SQ is the best airline IMO but they did crash a 747 in Taiwan whilst taking off on a closed runway during a typhoon with poor weather and low visibility. Plane crashed into equipment parked on the closed runway during the takeoff roll. Plane destroyed. Luckily the heavy rain helped control the fire...

Pilots should be aware when they could inter bad turbulence and require all seat belts on.

I am told the problem is that the plane’s turbulence stabilizer failed resulting in this catastrophe. Boeing needs to be shut down immediately and fully investigated

There is no such thing as a “turbulence stabilizer”. Easily could have happened (and has happened) to other non-Boeing aircraft. Turbulence is an atmospheric phenomenon and has nothing to do with the construction of any given aircraft.

I can just send my upmost condolence to the family member lost and hope the incident of that was accident.Through the air we might not know the wing of a plane might somehow indirectly flow in a direction which the wing blew.Maybe in hope the pilot innocence of being not suspense as the plane is not planted or any plot was made.Apologize for any offensive words if not being layed appropriately.

Other traffic in the area deviated known turbulence area and Singapore airlines pilots flew right through it. Too many close call of SIA. Sub standard Human Resources.

The fact that this Boeing held together is a miracle, but nobody is dumb enough to blame an airplane for turbulance. A jet that size cant even inentionally move up and down rapidly enough to launch passengers into the ceiling like that.

According to my friend who works at the airport the plane fell 6,000 feet in 20 seconds. This caused rapid change in atmospheric pressure in the cabin which in turn cause the air pressure in the passengers colons to instantly rise relative to the outside air. This caused their bowels to instantaneously explode literally showering the plane with a mixture of blood and human feces. One fellow actually died. Sadly he had eaten Mexican food earlier that day which authorities speculate might have resulted in a more violent explosion. According to eyewitnesses there were people running and screaming for help. Very tragic indeed

The plane is damaged because when the plane went through turbulence, the unbuckled passengers smashed into the over head bins. Also bins opening and luggage being thrown about. People are saying where a seat belt so you don’t fly up and smash your head and die.

Probably not. Climate change causes a lot of things, but it didn’t cause the plane to fly into turbulence and the unbuckled passengers to get lofted when the plane dropped.
