Hand knitting is actually a great way to start knitting. It teaches you what knitting is, essentially: just looping the wool. I think knitting is easier than crochet to be honest. I am glad I started with it.

For those asking about sizes of blankets, there are plenty of blanket size charts on the internet. Stay away from bulky yarn for baby blankets!! These can suffocate them. Use lightweight yarn, no halo. Keep tight stitches to prevent their little fingers from getting twisted in the loops.

There is definitely different ways to end your project but I did not learn it this way I did it so you do the first loop into a chain and then you skip the next one and then you put them together and then you pull both together like to work in yard through both of those lips

How many rows ?
@StaceyGemini7 ай бұрын
She probably uses about 5 skeins. So you just knit 5 skeins until you want to cast off on the last row. Make sure you have enough for the last row of your last skein.

Doesn’t show or mention how to preserve the chains on the sides. If you don’t skip the end stitch, the edges will roll inward.

Do you skip the first chain at the starting end? I can't tell here cuz of the bannerblocking your work. (I ruined a blanket cuz it started angling outward on the starting corner.)TIA!

Mine starts tampering in and I can figure out how to fix it
@RegrettablyLongwinded29 күн бұрын
@@loriroberson692 do you mean that it's curling? (Sounds like we have different regional dialects 🙂) If so, that's a construction issue. Stockinette/stocking stitch, which is the main thing shown in the video, is super prone to curling in on itself. The most common solution is to do a few rows of garter stitch as a border at the bottom & top, and few stitches the sides as you go. Basically, just flip the blanket over at the end of each row, do another row of knit stitches, flip back over, knit, etc. then stop flipping once you're happy with the size of the border. Moss stitch also works as a border, but is more difficult.

Hi can you make it wider like 40 loops and is this hard to learn I have to left hands but yet I can cut hair and blow out with right and left hand go figure. But I want to knit and I love chunky blankets and could be a great gift too
@onedaysoon072 ай бұрын
Hi, this is easy and you can make as many loops as you want depending on what size you want to make it. It’s very repetitive. Good luck

@kimberlymccoy4168Ай бұрын
Ive started making this blanket and I started out making mine big as well. I've learned that I should have started out learning to make a smaller blanket first instead of starting out huge on my first ever blanket. So I just pulled all of mine apart so I can learn starting out smaller.
