Hihi, I have the same thing. At the moment I couldn't understand really much of the beginner part. But when I learned Korean some time a go I was also very inconsistent and couldn't clasify myself either as a beginner. I could understand most thing, but still couldn't use the right grammar points or said things wrong XD

@@azukacharity2697 You just have to practice diligently. I'll list a few of my own resources, but you should pick what works for you after testing your options out. Total beginner: Learn hangul first and avoid romanization when learning - KZbin videos to learn to read hangul (the Korean alphabet) - I bought a book ("The Little Prince") in Korean and used that to slowly read. I wasn't good at all at the beginning, but now my reading level is a lot faster even if I don't have the vocabulary bank to understand a majority of the novel. This totally isn't necessary, but I really wanted to be able to read quickly. - Another option besides books to practice reading is using KZbin! I used to love watching Running Man, so I would watch episodes and since Korean shows often put sentences and words on the screen, I would practice reading those. Beginner to Intermediate: - TTMIK - the books are my go-to, but I also use their youtube videos and podcasts - Go Billy - he has a whole playlist of beginner words and grammar tips. I've recently been working my way through that beginner playlist despite knowing a lot of the material by now. It's a good refresher even for intermediate learners, anyways. - How To Study Korean - this website is THICK with information and gives you vocabulary to study, as well. It's a very good resource that has quizzes and unit tests all for free. I use this and TTMIK's stuff most often for my own studies. - Movies/Dramas/Music - I mostly use these to just listen to the language as many shows don't use natural Korean. Variety shows are better to use for natural Korean, but they are also spoken at a faster rate. I'm somewhere between upper beginner and intermediate as I'm able to get the gist of the story in Intermediate level but there are a few terms I'm not familiar with. There's a lot I don't know, but considering I'm self-studying between functioning as a working adult, I'm doing okay. If you can find a study group, that's great; but it's also totally doable on your own. You just have to put forth time and effort. Don't be afraid of talking aloud to yourself or trying to form sentences. Mistakes are okay, too. I often try to talk to myself as practice and end up a grammar mess, but it's the effort that will eventually help my fluency. Good luck!! :)

I feel like the advanced was easier to understand than the intermediate; the filler words and some expressions sounded more natural at the advanced level so it felt more natural to listen to and easier to understand. Also, THANK YOUUU! These are really helpful because it is hard to practice listening without being in Korea or having Korean friends!

The funny thing is now understanding the advanced level is so much more easier than understanding the beginner level. Because in the beginner they speak in a very formal way, like very rigid, but the advanced sounds way more natural and makes it easier to understand TTMIK good job! Also, that man was indeed very cool

What are your resources if you don't mind sharing? I can understand the intermediate level but there are still terms I don't know within there. I use TTMIK, How To Study Korean, Go Billy, and Korean novels/games as learning tools, but I'd like advice from more advanced learners.
@oumi12242 жыл бұрын
@@OfficialAwkbe you’re already using great ressources! Since you’re already intermediate I would advise you to learn grammar from « Korean grammar in use intermediate » also maybe look at the beginner one and see if there are some grammar points that you didn’t know Then I would advise you to study vocab from « 2000most common Korean words: beginner », then intermediate Those are excellent books because they give you words that are actually used However my biggest advise would be to listen as much as you can, so go on KZbin, find Korean you tubers and try listening to them If it’s too hard, put on the Korean subtitles (never English!!!), even if you don’t understand everything it will be very helpful !

I got the story the most from the intermediate level! However, the advanced level somehow sounded also similar to the intermediate one, so i was able to understand a big part of it too. Thank you for making this video, it was fun to listen to the story in different language levels!!

I can’t believe I understand everything for the beginners and intermediate level and about 90% for the advance level. I found that the intermediate one is easier for me to understand it’s fascinating.

Fact that i could understand advanced level just by watching k-dramas and k-pop songs. I didn’t even study korean language…

I understood all of it, but I understood the more advanced levels faster because they used more common natural sentences and words which i'm more familiar hearing in everyday korean and in media, the beginner level reminded me of being back in school and reading the workbooks.

I think I understood the story at the beginner level. Considering I haven't taken a single official Korean class and have just relied on random language apps and through listening to shows with English subtitles, I'm actually excited. Maybe it's about time I put much more effort into learning the language.

I loved this format! as much as I understood some parts of the beginner mode, I was not understanding some words because of the conjugation change ; thanks because i revised it and now i feel closer to understanding korean more and more

The fact that I had completed Korean to an advanced level in university (not in Korea, in Australia, highly don't recommend*) before, but was inconsistent with practice over the last 2 years has made me sad that I had forgotten a lot of Korean when I was conversing with some Korean friends recently. But after listening to this video I'm surprised I understood 95% of what was going on. I do know that I'm weak at forming sentences and that listening and speaking are completely different. BUT THIS GIVES ME THE MOTIVATION TO BE MORE CONSISTENT AND REACH A BETTER FLUENCY THIS YEAR ❤️✨ ~* I recommend getting a private tutor or joining classes over tertiary learning for languages based on my own experiences

I haven't been studying korean for like many months now, that I didn't even consider myself as a beginner anymore until I saw this 😂 I'm so glad I still remember some of the things I learned a long time ago.

Woah!! You may not believe me but I didn’t understand much in the beginner part...but I almost completely understand the last two parts I was so stunted I’m felling proud I feel like maybe all the effort is really paying off and I just didn’t notice before. Thanks for working so hard and helping us to learn this beautiful language!!!! ^^

I found this video in my recommended and decided to check it out. I've never learned Korean but I have been watching Korean shows and movies for a couple of years now. A while back (probably when the pandemic started), I realized that I could understand most of the Korean show I was watching when I forgot to turn on the subtitles and didn't realize it until halfway through the episode. So I can't read or write but am able to understand conversational Korean. Never thought to test it out until now. Surprisingly, I could understand the story at all 3 levels. However, I was guessing when it came some of the grammar and tenses. I think I should take this chance and actually start learning 'the language!

What can be understood in beginner can be understood in intermediate too. What cannot be understood is still the same. Most probably is due to vocabulary

I'm a beginner with speaking and writing, but my listening is intermediate because of all the TV I watch, minus a few vocabulary words I didn't know. The intermediate also sounded more natural and was easier to follow along. The Korean subtitles were actually very helpful, because it helped lay out the sentence structure visually.
