I haven't measured sound noise in my Jeep with a meter or anything, but it's quiet as hell, especially considering the 35" tires it has. I think it's quieter. It definitely helps with sound IN the cabin, same with the difference between a concert hall and an arena. There are definitely improved acoustics, my music is less echoey. I feel I got my money's worth.
@lucyferina Жыл бұрын
I can attest it reduced the noise significantly.
@tazzeltazzel29253 жыл бұрын
I purchased the exact same thing. I had my top off and up on the roof lift system so install was simple. The only thing I noticed after install was that it made my music better. As far as I can tell, road noise the same and heat was the same.
@MichaelWellsMW Жыл бұрын
Just installed mine last weekend. A few issues, it's sagging in the back, but overall great. Sound is definitely better, and today it was about 92 degrees out, and I went to the Jeep. It was hot inside, but not the wall of oven heat that I usually experience. Contacted Hothead about the sagging back, and they're sending new adhesive strips out, great company. And they look Great. I'm glad I spent the money. Next year, I'll replace the carpet, and use these guys' Sound Assassin underneath.
@jamesdumas66023 жыл бұрын
You'd think Jeep would just include their heat/sound headliner in at the factory especially since they charge so damn much ($1500) for what should be standard equipment, a hardtop.

I had the same in my jeep it took me 20 min to install. I got a gladiator now but getting the full liner this time, yes it was worth it i had to be in Florida and it did made the vehicle much cooler, reduced the noise significantly too, i recommend it. I only noticed audio improvement because i added a sub and upgraded the speakers.

That sweet balsa wood smell is my guess that it's made in Asia. I have no idea why but every box, etc that comes from there smells that way. I was stationed in Okinawa for 2 years and got used to it so I know the smell well when opening boxes. I don't think it's harmful in any way but it just smells for a while. If it's actually manufactured here in the USA then no clue. But that's my best guess. Thanks for the great review!

I'm making a headliner for my JT out of five-dollar, 2-foot-square interlocking EVA floor exercise mats from the budget made-in-China store. One each for each freedom panel, and the scraps from those will interlock with two more panels to cover the back. At most one more panel on each side left and right and small bits here and there. So $30 for panels, the 3M automotive mounting tape (green backing label) at another $15 brings total cost to $45 plus my time and effort. Will it be as good as this? Of course not. Will it be good enough? Well, time will tell. I expect thermally it will be similar; acoustically probably not because it's closed cell foam and I'm not covering it with any cloth, but again time will tell. It's worth it for the learning experience. I've discovered four different mounting tapes that don't hold up in the heat. Driver side was done once, passenger side four or five times now (trying different tapes I have on hand or can get conveniently "while I'm out" getting other things until I can get the right stuff I used on the driver side. Next trip to the AP store, I'll be picking up the right tape that I used on the driver's side, and after that point I'll start making the rear panels. As for road noise, you can at least mitigate some of it by adding weatherstripping to the gap between the windshield and the roll cage. Apparently a bit of wind gets moving around in there on the road, adding a discernible quantity of noise. That's my next noise mitigation project, but I haven't decided if I want to do that before or after making a mount for my 2-way radios. All DIY, of course. Just emptying every pocket doesn't go as far when they're so close to empty already. 😂

Do you think it's better than Boom mat? I would more want them for the winters here, the cold likes to radiate down from the hard top

@@givemeaminutetothink Thanks for the input, unfortunately I never got around to doing this since my Jeep began to suffer aluminum corrosion on just about every panel. Traded it in rather than have the dealer repaint half the jeep. Was the last straw in a long line of issues.
