The e34 //M5 is a a real motorsport engine. With the real race character, sounds like a McLaren F1 on full chat. This is how I see it. The e28, e34, e60 m5’s are all like a bigger e30 m3. Nothing wrong with the 280 5 speed. Throwing Stars were fitted to all five speed 3.8's (narrow grille). I'm one of those saddos that preferred to 3.6 Turbines....... I was never a fan of the 6 speed car's appearance - the wide grille and the M Paras make it look like a hopped up 525i but the 5 speed looks pukka. Good that the EDC has been deleted. You ideally use a 535i PAS pump to do that. It's okay when it works but really, a decent set of Bilsteins and good springs like H&R or Eibach is fine. Fit and forget. 340 bhp is the headline figure but very few actually do it. 325 bhp is a good normal figure but if the compressions, valve clearances, throttle bodies etc are all 100% then 340 or close is possible on 99 octane fuel. A good 540i with a lower ratio diff will give an M5 a hard time - but it's not the same.

Josh I’m way behind on my BMW content and your vids! I’d completely missed this one and absolutely love it. I got my Avus car just like this one about 6 years ago and have all the same things to say. It’s just like “a part of you” when you slip into it and drive. It’s so hard to explain, but (possibly unlike the E30 M3 IMO) it’s like a well fitting business suit on you. It’s an effortless car at low speeds and in every day driving. But a beast when having fun. A couple stats I can help with- the Diff ratio is 3.45 (EDIT It is 3.91) and that is SHORT! Tolerable on the freeway but you notice it. Also, Daytona Violet is one of the 3 classic M colors with Hellrot and Avus Blau. I chased DV cars for quite a while when trying to complete the triad lol. Of all my cars this M5 feels most like the 3.2 Euro M3/4/6. The difference is in its much better luxury factor! I also missed what you did with the 8er. I had a feeling I’d too be disappointed and finally got my CSi. That’s the one you will have some day and you won’t be disappointed;). Please get here to Oregon again and swing through some day and we’ll drive some of my cars. I’d love to meet you and to have you do a video 😊 Great work as always!

I've seen a few E34 M5s in UK and Japan, and they have always been LHD... weird.. This must be very rare. Same with E30 M3...
@m3nameisjosh4645 ай бұрын
Rhd definitely a rarer car in production on all models. Weird that japan and UK had more LHD lol

I honestly wouldn't mind the RHD, don't see what's the big deal about it other than getting used to it

Saying its shit is the typical opinion of someone who has never driven rhd before.

Totally. Everyone says negative things about cars they never driven! Lol

Crazy to bash this for being RHD considering that would indicate it’d be the highest spec motor for a euro car most times. I feel like that makes it looks even more authentic.

I didn’t know this!

@@m3nameisjosh464 the RHD isn’t what I’m saying makes it the highest spec, but the fact its RHD makes it obvious it doesn’t have US regulatory garbage most times. Like how a lot of times cars are speed restricted when sent to us but not in Europe.
@m3nameisjosh4645 ай бұрын
@@normiels3 OHHHH gotcha. Yes exactly!! Its how you know its not a US spec car. In most other cases a LHD E34 m5 euro OR US is hard to tell much of a difference from a glance

How is the powerband compared to S54?
@m3nameisjosh4645 ай бұрын
Good question. Id say power comes in sooner, but still ramps up into real fun mode after 4k. Obviously then it redlines 1k sooner so losing some later fun

First of all, the steering wheel is on the correct side of the car. As an Englishman (and therefore right) I can confirm this. Also, the interior is rubbish because it should be leather. Otherwise, great video.
