I ts amazing how Mt. Union continues to contend for the Stagg Bowl championship for the last 40 years, while former play-off rival Augustana has compleatly fallen off the radar and has long since been re-placed by North Central and Wheaton as conference powerhouses.

Some teams come and go, depending on the coach. Yet certain teams have a higher winning mindset if their program has won a Natty in recent memory they will be good as well.

I'm happy that a Chicago area school won the stagg bowl the day after my birthday. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago and local area where north central college is and I'm a town west of Naperville Illinois and I get the games on the local radio station out where I live. It's like 89.1 FM and plays rock music alot and you can request songs anytime of the day. It's just the local station that comes in other than WSPY in my area

Roosevelt U has a ways to go in Division II. But I am expecting with that Chicago recruiting region they too will get better with time. Currently Roosevelt U playing in the mostly Michigan regional conference GLIAC.

I think Ferris State versus Slippery Rock on Dec 14th 2024 was much better. Game highlights are not uploaded KZbin but live it was a barn burner live on ESPN2. Ferris was down 38- 27 at halftime, roared back with 21 points holding Slippery Rock scoreless in the 2nd haff.....but the Rock had two deep drives resulting in interceptions. Ferris had a pick 6 and a kickoff TD. It was 48-38 in the Div II semi finals.

I'm from the area where NCC is and they played aurora university which is also a local college. They beat them bad but aurora university scored 21 points on them. I get north central college radio in my local area so I was listening to the game on the radio. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and western suburbs of Chicago

I saw last year's title game as North Central lost a shootout with SUNY-Cortland that came down to the wire. Great to see them back without having lost a step,-- they deserve a championship. Mount Union not the dynasty they were years ago. Despite entering the game 14-0, it took a team like N. Central to find the soft spots. Congrats from México!

Too much Man-Coverage by MU against these NCC WR’s. Kept losing them in coverage. Bad clock management to end the first half…Kick the FG and take the points after attempting a pass play…but definitely not a run play. Overall, a very good game.

I'm just curious --- hiw many titles have these two teams won since 2000, and how many times have they faced each other in the title game? I thought that the Stagg Bowl was in Alabama somewhere. Two undefeated teams --- now that's a title game.

@@allenmurray7893 Great questions! This is Mount Union's 19th Stagg Bowl appearance since 2000, they won 9 of those. This is North Central's 5th Stagg Bwol appearance since 2000, they won 3 of those. This is the 2nd time these teams faced off in the Stagg Bowl. This year the title game was in Houston, Texas. A great resource for more history and information about D3 football is d3football.com !

Mt Union clearly has talent but that game was mismanaged horribly. Not just the kick before half but mainly how their defensive alignment was - it wasn't working - why not change it immediately?: NC looked impressive in the run game - the OL deserves most of the credit though - that's trench warfare and punch you in the mouth football those kids were running when they needed 3 or 4 tough yards to keep the drives going, and getting 5 or 6. MtU's got a great back that they should have figured out ways to get him off tackle more and exploit. Great game though...
