Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup kzbin.infoUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

I've been bass fishing in MN for 6 years, here's some things you should know: for largmouth 4lbs is HUGE for the area and that number goes down when you get north of Duluth. Docks and pads are huge... frogs, wacky worms, and football jigs with fenesse worms and craws are things I've had good luck with. For SMB they get bigger north of Duluth (I've caught a few 5lb+ in the boundary waters) drop shot kills em. If you're near the cities hmu for lakes w/ 3+lb fish. Also i go to school in Duluth so if you drop by there i can give you some insider resturants/things to do there.

I’m from Maine which is a very similar climate to Minnesota and I’ve always had my best luck fishing around trees and I’m very shallow weedy areas with a watermelon red whacky rig bass love it up here. Stay away from swim baits and shiners the pirch will just bite that. Gary Yamamoto watermelon 5 inch is the way to go!
