@@commonlogic3646 it kind of gets a storyline, but kinda not; all the random stuff interweaves and things make more sense, incidents have a clear, chronological order and are consistent from episode to episode. although there is no main plot, there are going to be consistent subplots and series of episodes that have an independent plot (those have an identical title among one another and are numbered)

My aunt showed me this series when she helped me house sit for my parents in 2017 or so and we laughed and laughed at all of the show's splendid wackiness. That night we listened to the first three episodes and she helped me realize I wanted to be an author. On July 4 2020 my aunt lost her battle with breast cancer. We had made a promise to each other to only listen to episodes together, so up until she died we'd only managed to listen to 10 or so given how rarely we got time to just goof off together living hours apart and her partner not really liking me for unrelated reasons that to this day are a mystery. After she died I found it really damn hard to come back to Night Vale, even for short visits. Every time I tried it felt like it was just another town where my aunt was dead and I didn't want to be there, where my aunt wasn't. It's been a few years so I've decided to give this another go from the start, and I know this one's gonna be hard like the others but if I listen closely enough I can almost hear her laughing with me. I can see her standing there by the dog park where dogs aren't allowed and she's smiling her wonderful smile and everything just might be okay if I try really hard. I'm working on my first novel now, so I know she's proud of me. Thanks, Night Vale. Thank you.

when i was a child this was the show that taught me that "gay" was a thing. my family has nothing against gay couples and my best friend has two moms. i just love that night vale taught me so many life lessons over the years. thank you so much, i will never forget you. and i will always watch the episode as soon as it comes out. Edit: years later and I just found out it continued after the wedding. also i continued after the wedding; im transmasc and unlabled queer. Thank you night vale.

When I compare this to the later episodes that I'm actually on, this is more... sad. Slow. You can obviously tell by his voice how Cecil (Baldwin and Palmer) have both grown through the years. I have to admit that this episode leaves me with a bit of a heavy feeling in my chest. I can't explain it.
