This was definitely God’s hand. Indeed rejection can be a gift from God. Since David was anointed king, imagine how it would have been with him fighting the very same people that he was ordained to reign over.

Great application to take away from the chapter, but I don’t think David would’ve actually followed through with fighting against His people or His anointed based on chapter 27 and the instances David refused hurt Saul. It is still a great application to take away that the way we think God will work in our life might be redirected by God in the form of rejection.

Bible characters aren't perfect so no need for you to be either. One take! Can't blame the Lords for hesitating at David's participation in the battle. Would he really go toe to toe agsinst Saul, someone he would never harm?
