Really simple idea I found on another channel which was totally worth sharing with others. Below is a link to the great Bjorn Andreas Bull Hansen:- • Viking Clothing | Bjør...

I just made my first hood. Wool shell with cotton flannel lining. Extremely warm, especially when it's below freezing with a strong wind. Several of my colleagues have asked me about them. Thank you.

I used to do larping and it's cold and windy winter outside so I figured I'd try my Struthätta(medieval hood) and it was incredibly comfy! I'm going to start using it regularly :P

Do you have a pattern for the hood and the top?

Is the coat of arms on the wall supposed to look like the helmet you made on your channel earlier? I really like the design, I think it looks like a bird skull. Would you mind if I used it for a character design?

arseen33, go for it!! I based the idea on my spectacle helmet. I made it for medieval studies in my class.

This is pretty simple I like that. How many yards of material does this require to make? What kind of dimensions ?
@MrAshleysPlace5 жыл бұрын
To make mine I used a 3m x 3m square of fabric, then folded in half. The important measurements are your head circumference to allow you to put it on and also pull the hood down. Also take a rough measure of the side of your head to gauge an idea of the needed depth of hood. I hope this helps and will work on providing a more detailed measurements video for you.

@@MrAshleysPlace Im a bit late to this party. Are you sure its 3mx3m and not 3ftx3ft. Im going to have a go at one. Looks fantastic. Thanks.

@@alanrogers8535 I did 3mx3m because I'm nz and use metric hahahahaha I'm not sure what the would be in feet. I would do some measurements of head height and circumference to ensure you can get your head in and take the hood down once it's on. I hope that helps a little

@@MrAshleysPlace Wow. Thank you for replying. I was curious because 3m is 10 ft in old world sizes. Average men are about 1.8 m tall that is about 5ft 10 inches. a 3mx3m could make a tent.

@@alanrogers8535 that does sound big doesn't it!!!! Hmm may be half that then remember you are going to fold it in half( the fabric). 10 ft sounds waaaay too big though. The best is to measure from top of your head to sternum, shoulder to shoulder, head height and circumference of head to get a good idea of how much you'll need. I don't even have mine with me to look and measure or get reference. The other measurement before I forget is the width of your body so it fit comfortably on your shoulders. Hahahaha can you tell I'm not a tailor.... I hope this helps hahaha
