If we set aside ge-404 engine issue Naval Tejas-mark-1a with 4 bvr+2wvr missiles, or 2 bvr+ 2 wvr missiles with 2 drop tank is an potent fighter in fleet air-defence role In an similar role during falkland war 20 single engined sub-sonic royal Navy sea harrier with 2 wvr sidewinder -aim-9l missiles and 2 drop tanks operating from royal Navy carrier operating far away from british mainland was able to keep at bay and inflict damages to an enemy having over 100 aircrafts strong Argentinian airforce/ naval aircrafts.
@sigma-sigma13 ай бұрын
So we should not under-estimate role of naval tejas in air-defence role just because it is supposed to have lesser payload and range as compared to heavier class of aircraft..
@sigma-sigma13 ай бұрын
in falkland war british carrier battle group which operated 20 sea harriers did not have any awacs/aew support still they did well in air to air fleet air-defence role whereas indian navy tejas which has also 14 ka-31 aew/awacs helicopters that would mean these naval tejas need not be on combat air patrol 24/7 but rather on combat ready mode on aircraft carrier and become airborne when these aew/awacs detect any threat thus mitigating the tejas endurance/range limitation to a certain extent and also it will have the support of already existing combat fleet of indian navy 40+ mig-29k which has both higher range payload/ air to air capabilities and can be in combat air patrol or long range maritime strike mode if there is a real neccisity and also in future possiblity/probability support of 26 naval rafales.

A single squadron of the LCA Navy with network centric warfare can be a good punch too . I can see a future where mig 29m are retired and 10 Rafales are being operated by both aircraft carriers and TEDBF isn't ready. Naval LCA can be a good force multiplayer in that case if everything goes too wrong ( I know navy won't let it happen)

I have been saying this for a very long time. Hope someone thinks about it - Indian Navy should ask for a Twin Engine GE 404 Naval Tejas with Canards for short lift offs and higher TWR. Later on maybe we can use these Twin Engine Naval LCA to test Kaveri Engines and once those engines are ready move onto Twin Engine Naval Tejas with Kaveri Engines. That would be the sensible and logical approach to take.

This is a very important programme for us. Please make a video on the 1/2 squadron of Jaguar IM and how it was utilized. Not much is available on these aircrafts. Maybe they were not important but they were there for a purpose. And it appears that with our widespread island based naval stations, there will be a need for their replacement in larger numbers to counter the Chinese naval entry into the Indian Ocean region. Our Su 30 MKIs might be ideal with Brahmos but an aircraft like NLCA with Brahmos NG capable of operating from island bases and also landing after their sorties in one of our carriers might give additional flexibility. Not to mention their offensive role if integrated with CATS like unmanned systems delivered by cargo planes to overwhelm any enemy fleet.

I have been following alpha defense since it's inception. Recently this team has started getting into sort of analysis which impressed me a lot. Basically I love the core technological aspects of a defense platform and it's commercial viability aspects. Technology and science are complicated matters and adding military and national security aspect to it makes it further convoluted topic. People who are watching these videos should not do it for cheap thrills. So "acquired taste" is required to appreciate such analysis. My request to Team alpha is not to deviate from the path which they are following now and actually go few levels higher with the "in-depth analysis" aspect. News is not always important (indian mainstream media produce noise rather than news barring few like Dubey ji , Sandeep Unnithan etc.). Most important thing is national security and population of India should be gradually educated about it. It will take time but keep up the good work. May be try to add original video content using animation or 3d modeling (I like aitelly and gareeb scientist channels for their efforts in creating animation and modelling.) Next big suggestion from me is to start a podcast filled with further technical analysis and data like the Mig 35 & Kaveri video you talked about. Thanks and appreciate the work 😊 Jai Hind. 🙏

I feel like IN should acquire 2 squadrons. We already have 2 AC. I also think, Navy should acquire 100-200 Su30mki and operate them from Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar to keep an eye on the shipping lanes. Su30mki have long range and if u add aerial tanker into equation. It also have high payload capacity which includes Brahmos too. Since IAF already operates them, it will be cheaper to operate them. India should just take advantage of Russia-Ukraine war and try to get full IP of Su30mki. Sur30mki with Indian, French, Israeli components and American Engines will become a formidable beast.
