I came here to make myself feel better about the current state of Ohio State basketball. I know things will get better soon, but it sure stinks missing the tourney.
@allengreene99548 жыл бұрын
With the money and recruiting that Ohio State has at its disposal, there is no way they should be missing the tournament. You go from the Final Four and Elite Eight and finishing on top in the Big Ten 3 years in a row to the NIT??? Were you once again get destroyed by Florida in a championship game is not good.

we've never been the same ever since Thomas left early DRuss helped scott and sam finish out their careers but ever since then even the freshman we're recruiting have been transferring. rip the glory years from like 2006-2014 it was a good run

TOTAL team effort in this Buckeyes victory over the Orangemen! Aaron Craft's defense neutralized the advantage Syracuse had with their backcourt of Dion Waiters, Skoop Jardine, Chris Fair and Brandon Triche. Their dribble penetration was virtually nil. Lenzelle Smith, Jr. got hot and hit some timely 3's. Sullinger and Thomas DID their thing offensively in the 2nd half and freshman Amir Williams gave some great minutes in the first half when Sully and Ravenel went out with foul trouble. William Buford's defense and leadership made up for his offensive struggles.

The bad part of it is if that Syracuse could have won national titles in 2010 and 2012 if it weren't for key players being out for during their tourney runs. In 2010, Oranku got injured and he was key rebounder and defender. Without him, Butler took advantage of his departure and beat them in the Sweet 16. And obviously last year with Fab Melo's academic troubles. He would been the man that would contain Anthony Davis and would have been the only team capable of beating the 'Cats.
@jordanlindsey5524 Жыл бұрын
Idk if anyone was beating them. Jeff Withey for Kansas was on par with Fab Melo ans an anhot blocking seven footer and played excellent defense on AD (only six points in the title game). It didn’t matter because Kentucky had five other guys that could go for 20 on any given night. Plus Kris Joseph would’ve been guarded by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, so his points would not have come easily. Also the 6’8 Darius Miller would’ve likely guarded Dion Waiters whenever one of the starters went to the bench. I wish Cuse would’ve had Fab Melo and UNC would’ve had Kendall Marshall. I’m a UK fan but I hate seeing the best teams lose players because of foul trouble. Now in 2010 Syracuse definitely at least makes the title game and likely beats Duke imo. Tbh they should’ve been a two seed and West Virginia should’ve been a one seed considering the injury to Arinze Onuaku occurred before the conference tournaments were even finished, so obviously the brackets weren’t set yet. But healthy Onuaku and SU wins it in 2010 imo. I wish that would’ve happened. It sucks that literally two of Syracuse best teams ever lost their starting centers RIGHT before the tournament.

Michigan has a better offense this tournament than Ohio State did last tournament. Replace Aaron Craft, William Buford, Deshaun Thomas, and Jared Sullinger with Big Ten Player of the Year Trey Burke; Tim Hardaway, Jr.; Glenn Robinson III; and Mitch McGary and the Wolverines are all set. The one caveat is that Syracuse, missing Fab Melo last tournament, now has a shot blocking duo in Rakeem Christmas and Baye Keita, the former now playing significant minutes this season.

Can Michigan learn anything from their archrival Ohio State to exploit anything in Syracuse's zone defense this year? From three early plays on 12:13 - 12:23, 12:44 - 13:04, and 18:38 - 18:49, the Buckeyes attack the zone by posting up either Deshaun Thomas or Jared Sullinger down low while the other either posts high or sets screens for the perimeter players to drive towards the lane. Combined with proper spacing and fluid movement of both the ball and the players, the Buckeyes won the game.

Seriously all these college teams run are really predictable, a lot of pick and rolls passing across the perimeter, some prioritize running the post, but really predictable easy to defend low percentage shots, only get easy shots when the Defense sleeps. Need more creative offensive systems.
